🔎 Here is an exclusive sneak preview of the making of ‘Carry the Clouds Away’ - a brand new exhibition at the New Adelphi Exhibition Gallery!

This exhibition brings together contemporary art, community projects and works from the University of Salford Art Collection to explore the varied ways in which we find inspiration, connection and solace in places of nature 🌳

Anoosh Ariamehr is one of OFFSHOOT’s four artists in residence. Working with community groups in the RHS Bridgewater’s Community Grow Garden, Anoosh has been running workshops that combine gardening and cultivation with explorations into visual storytelling through photography. 🌳

Anoosh and some of the Community Grow Garden members talks us through their workshops and the importance of OFFSHOOT’s socially engaged artist residency programme to their engagement with nature, art and community. They also share their contributions to the current OFFSHOOT exhibition which is on display at RHS Bridgewater. 📸

OFFSHOOT is a collaboration between The University of Salford Art Collection, Open Eye Gallery Liverpool, and RHS Garden Bridgewater, and is made possible through generous funding from The National Lottery through Arts Council England.

Since summer 2026 Socially Engaged Photographer, Fiona Robinson has been working alongside communities in the RHS Bridgewater’s Community Wellbeing Garden. Her workshops have utilised development of photographic and skills visual storytelling, to build connection to nature and social engagement.🌷
From a community event hosted at RHS Bridgewater, Fiona and some of her workshop participants discuss their involvement in the OFFSHOOT programme - sharing about their work that is currently on display as part of the ‘Artists in Residence at RHS Garden Bridgewater’ exhibition, and what significance the OFSHOOT project has to them. 📷
Fiona is one of four artist residencies developed as part of OFFSHOOT, a collaboration between The University of Salford Art Collection, Open Eye Gallery Liverpool and RHS Garden Bridgewater. 📢 There is now two days to apply for our Graduate Scholarship Programme 2026❗️

If you are graduating from the University of Salford’s School of Art, Media and Creative Technology then get your applications in now.
📆Application deadline: by 5pm on Friday 22nd May 2026

Ran in partnership with , the scheme was first established in 2014 to support artists in the crucial first stages after graduating!

Scholarship packages are tailored, but can include:

- £1000 bursary towards time and expenses to engage with the programme
- Studio space for 12 months
- Research trips and networking
- Free 12-month Castlefield Gallery Associates membership
- Professional development including coaching, professional development sessions & mentoring
- Opportunity to have artwork acquired into the University’s permanent Art Collection

🎉 In 2025/26, we awarded five places on the scheme, with studio spaces including and . The programme evolves each year as we endeavour to offer opportunities to the graduates we think we can best support. Over 50 graduates have benefitted from the scheme so far!

🪴We are delighted to introduce our second public presentation of OFFSHOOT: Artists in Residence at . This exhibition encourages visitors to explore the gardens in new ways – with three OFFSHOOT artists, and members of the community, displaying art work in a variety of locations. 🌳Yan Wang Preston is sharing two new bodies of work: ‘The perfect Flower’ and exploration of the RHS’ Hydrangea trials process, and ‘Goose Poo and Rainbows’ an instalment of images of found objects. 🍁Fiona Robinson and Anoosh Ariamehr are also displaying co-created works developed as part of their socially engaged practice with the RHS’ community gardening groups 🪏🌱 To find out more about the exhibition and how to book tickets follow the link in our bio 🔗 Image credits: 1.) Less than 1 week until the submission deadline for our Photo 100 Open Call📸

PHOTO 100 is inspired by Salford’s 100 year anniversary, join us in celebrating Salford and submit your images inspired by the city’s past, present or future.

The main themes are:
- Natural and built environment
- History and heritage
- Creativity and making

Please note we are only accepting submissions with 1 image❗️

✅Selected works will be displayed on our Gallery’s digital screen, and one prize-winner* will receive a £70 voucher with Come Through Lab (for e.g. photo supplies, printing and framing).

Existing or new works can be submitted.
*Please note, all current staff are NOT eligible for the prize draw.

Step into Salford’s contemporary artists leading in the act of making in different ways, experimenting with process, form, material and function.

Featuring works by and , , , and many more! Artworks in this exhibition exemplify the relationship between humans and the material, technological, environmental, and social worlds around us.

Artist-in-Residence announcement❗️

We are thrilled to announce Manchester based artist Omid Asadi has been selected as the latest artist-in-residence at Energy House 2.0.

Asadi will work closely with the team over the next coming months to create new work in response to the pioneering retrofit research that is being carried out at this world-leading research facility, focussing on a recreated 1930s’ era house. Concepts of memory, environment and identity exist at the centre of Asadi’s practice, which encompasses mediums such as installation and sculpture to video and performance.

The Energy House team first met Omid when they supported his solo show with our partners at , by helping to source local recycled building materials for example, recovered bricks from demolished houses.

Omid Asadi, born in 1979 in Iran, navigates a diverse journey that intertwines past experiences with creative expression. After growing up in Iran, he ventured into engineering and boxing before embracing art’s calling. His creative nucleus revolves around the concept of contrast, interwoven across mediums, materials, colours, textures, cultures, meanings, and nature. His work acts as a vital lens through which he examines the broader human condition, delving into complex, poignant issues such as immigration, identity, environment, and memory.

This residency delivered with support of our partners at Castlefield Gallery and has been internally commissioned by the University of Salford Art Collection and will run from Spring 2026 until the end of the year.
