Reception’s first week back. 🐝

We have had a lovely first week back and started it off with a lovely trip to RHS. The children took part in a classroom session learning about how a flower changes with the seasons. They then went outside and planted their own pea plant. Children were then given clipboards and had to go on a scavenger hunt to find different things and finished the session with some learning on butterflies and made their own finger butterfly.
If your child's plant grows, please send pictures in on dojo so we can share this with the class.

In maths this week we have been looking at sharing. We talked about sharing meaning that each part was equal. The children started off with sharing between 2 and then moved on to 3. We will continue to work on this next week.

Explore and Learn this week has all been about 'Bear' going on his travels. We have learnt that we live in the UK and have learnt about the 4 countries in the UK. We have looked at contrasting places such as a city and a village and Bear sent us postcards from different places around the UK.
Ask your child can they remember what the 4 countries in the UK are called?

Have a lovely weekend (hopefully the rain stops) and we will see you back in school on Monday

What a busy week in nursery. 🐝

On Tuesday we had our exciting trip out to RHS. The children were exceptionally well behaved, and all had lots of fun exploring the different gardens, ponds, fairy garden and parks.

Ask your child what their favourite part of the trip was?

In maths this week we have looked at compositions of numbers up to 5. Through different activities we have learnt that numbers are made up (composed) of smaller numbers.

Ask your child what different numbers are composed of, up to the number 5?

In PSHE we have been looking at ‘our body’ we drew around our classmate and then together labelled the different parts of the body. We then discussed what we can do to help keep our bodies healthy.

Ask your child how can we keep our body healthy?
Ask your child to name the different parts of their body?

This week we have also introduced our first two initial sounds in phonics. The children have been working so hard, and the children are not just making the sound but linking the sound to objects and even beginning to write the different sounds too. Well done!!

Ask your child what 2 sounds we have learnt this week?

We have also been very busy practising out races for sports day next week!! We hope the weather stays dry and that you all get to come and cheer us all on.

We are very proud of our Y6 performance at the Lowry Theatre.
They showcased their ukulele skills in 3 solo performances and then sang and performed alongside other Salford schools.
We are so proud of them, their resilience and confidence ⭐️ They only started to learn how to play the ukulele in September.
Well done 🐝

On Monday, Year 3 had a very interesting money workshop! We learnt about how to budget and save money, and the difference between wants and needs.

Ask your child one of these questions to see if they remember what we learnt -

What is a pension?
What do we call money that is earned from a job?
What is an example of a need and a want?
Why might grown ups need to budget their money?
