What a way to close National Apprenticeship Week!
Massive congratulations go to Olivia Moss from our Salford young people’s team! πŸ†πŸŽ‰πŸ‘
Oliva took home the Apprentice of the Year Award (Business and Professional Services category) at last night’s Salford City College Group Apprenticeship Awards.

In her time with Career Connect, Olivia has built up key admin skills that support day-to-day team operations and has also been able to specialise in events and programmes.

Olivia said: β€œI really didn't expect it, I was so shocked! I am extremely grateful to be chosen for this award out of all of the amazing people who were nominated. It is definitely an opportunity that will help me in the future!

β€œMy favourite part of the role is doing the events, such as the programmes we provide for our young people. Since starting this role, my communication skills have increased massively; I used to hate ringing anyone I didn't know, but now I can speak to anybody so confidently inside and outside of work…

…I didn't expect to feel so confident in a role as I have always doubted myself in previous jobs, but I think this is down to having an amazing team who support and help me every day. I love that I am learning new things every single day in an apprenticeship, but I also get to work as I learn which is very important to me!”

Liv's manager Helen said: "I was so pleased to see Liv be given this recognition – she has worked so hard in her role at Career Connect – building on her skills and knowledge – always keen to get involved, ready to pick up new tasks – she is a very valued and popular member of the team – well done Liv!"

Congratulations also go to Salford Apprentice Muzammil, who also made the shortlist for Apprentice of the Year !😊

We're incredibly proud of our Salford-based apprentices Muzammil and Olivia – who have both been shortlisted for Apprentice of the Year at the Salford City College Group Apprenticeship Awards 2026! πŸŽ‰

This week, Muzammil and Olivia will attend a glittering ceremony at FutureSkills based at MediaCityUK.

Muzammil and Olivia play key roles in supporting the day-to-day running of our careers information and guidance service at Career Connect Salford. They have also had the chance to develop their own specialisms - Muzammil in data, Olivia in events and programmes.

Muzammil said: "I feel honoured to have been nominated for this award. It was a surprise that I was nominated but I am very grateful for this nomination. My journey with Career Connect has been really good so far. I have amazing colleagues who help me if I am ever stuck on something. I also have really supportive managers who care about my career projection and how my time with Career Connect has been."

Olivia said: "I feel extremely grateful for this nomination. This is a big deal to me as I am a huge self-doubter, but it has assured me that I am doing a good job. When I started this apprenticeship, I was so scared, but the team welcomed me straight away! Although it can be a challenge, it is such a rewarding job, and I am so happy to be here."

Their manager Helen is rightly proud, saying: "Olivia and Muzammil have been an invaluable addition to the Salford team. They work great together on tracking and social media whilst also taking on their own specialist responsibilities – Muzammil in data and Olivia in programmes and events.

"They fitted in right from the go and I know I speak for the team in saying how we rely on them for so many day-to-day administrative tasks. It’s been wonderful seeing them grow in confidence and experience. They fully deserve to be shortlisted and I’ll keeping my fingers crossed that they win on the night!"
