Το περασμένο Σάββατο, οι μαθητές των GCSE και A-Level επισκέφθηκαν τη Βιβλιοθήκη Portico στο κέντρο του Μάντσεστερ. Εκεί είχαν την ευκαιρία να ανακαλύψουν βιβλία ελληνικού ενδιαφέροντος και να μάθουν περισσότερα για την ιστορία του Μάντσεστερ μέσα από τις μοναδικές συλλογές της βιβλιοθήκης.

Last Saturday, our GCSE and A-Level students visited the Portico Library in Manchester city centre. There, they had the opportunity to explore books of Greek interest and learn more about the history of Manchester through the library’s unique collections.
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the staff at the Portico Library for their warm hospitality and for providing us with such a wonderful morning. 📚✨

Με ιδιαίτερη χαρά στηρίζουμε και μοιραζόμαστε αυτή την υπέροχη εκδήλωση της Εκκλησίας, που διοργανώνει το μεγαλύτερο Bake Sale που έχει πραγματοποιήσει μέχρι σήμερα!

Η εκδήλωση θα γίνει την Κυριακή της Πεντηκοστής, 31 Μαΐου, στις 12:30μ.μ., στο χωλ της Εκκλησίας, Bury New Road, Salford, Manchester M7 4EY.

Θα υπάρχουν γλυκά και παραδοσιακές λιχουδιές από πολλές χώρες του κόσμου — Ελλάδα, Κύπρο, Βουλγαρία, Αυστραλία, Ρουμανία, Ουκρανία, Γαλλία, Βρετανία, Ουγγαρία και πολλές ακόμη!

Όλα τα έσοδα θα διατεθούν για την ενίσχυση των πολύτιμων υπηρεσιών του Willow Wood Hospice.

Παρόλο που η εκδήλωση πραγματοποιείται μέσα στις διακοπές του half-term, θα θέλαμε θερμά να ενθαρρύνουμε γονείς, φίλους του σχολείου και όλα τα μέλη της κοινότητάς μας να στηρίξουν αυτή την όμορφη προσπάθεια — είτε με την παρουσία τους, είτε προσφέροντας γλυκά, είτε απλώς βοηθώντας να διαδοθεί η ενημέρωση.

We are delighted to share details of the Greek Orthodox Church Manchester's biggest ever Bake Sale Fundraiser taking place on Pentecost Sunday, 31st May at 12:30pm in the Community Hall, Bury New Road, Salford, Manchester M7 4EY.

There will be an amazing selection of cakes and bakes from around the world, including treats from Greece, Cyprus, Bulgaria, Australia, Romania, Ukraine, France, Britain, Hungary, and many more.

All proceeds will go towards supporting the Willow Wood Hospice's vital services.

Although it falls during the half-term break, we would love to encourage any parents, friends of the school, and members of our wider community to support the event — whether by attending, donating bakes, or helping spread the word. Every contribution will make a real difference.

Μέχρι και η αναγκαστική διακοπή λόγω συναγερμού δεν μπόρεσε να αναστείλει την εξαιρετική διάλεξη της Καθηγήτριας Μαρίας Ευθυμίου για τον Ελληνισμό την περίοδο 1800–2000!

Είμαστε ιδιαίτερα ευγνώμονες προς το Ελληνικό Σχολείο Νότιγχαμ και την AHEPA Midlands για τη διοργάνωση αυτής της τόσο ενδιαφέρουσας και ουσιαστικής εκδήλωσης, καθώς και για την πρόσκληση να συμμετάσχουμε τόσο στη διάλεξη όσο και στις πολύ εποικοδομητικές συζητήσεις που ακολούθησαν κατά τη διάρκεια του δείπνου.

Ήταν μια εξαιρετική ευκαιρία να συζητήσουμε σημαντικές κοινωνικοπολιτικές πτυχές της νεότερης ελληνικής ιστορίας, αλλά και τις προκλήσεις και το μέλλον των Ελληνικών Σχολείων στο Ηνωμένο Βασίλειο.

Ευελπιστούμε σε ακόμη περισσότερες εκδηλώσεις και συνεργασίες που φέρνουν κοντά το προσωπικό, τους μαθητές και την ευρύτερη κοινότητα των ελληνικών σχολείων σε όλο το Ηνωμένο Βασίλειο.

Not even a fire alarm could interrupt Prof. Maria Efthymiou’s fascinating lecture on Hellenism between 1800–2000!

We are incredibly grateful to the GGreek School of Nottinghamand AHEPA Midlands for organising such an engaging and thought-provoking event, and for inviting us to take part in both the lecture and the stimulating discussions over dinner afterwards.

It was a wonderful opportunity to reflect on key sociopolitical moments in modern Greek history, while also exchanging views on the challenges and future of Hellenic Schools across the UK.

We look forward to many more events and collaborations that bring together our school staff, students, and wider communities throughout the UK.

We’re delighted to support and share this wonderful community event organised by the Hellenic Brotherhood Hellenic Brotherhood-Manchester.

Join us at The Kafenio on Monday 18th May at Didsbury Sports Club for an evening of food, community, and good company. Inspired by the traditional Greek kafenio, the night will bring people together to eat, socialise, play tavli, and enjoy a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.

Food will be served from 6:30 PM, with freshly prepared souvlakia available throughout the evening.

All profits from the event will be donated to Feed the Homeless, where meals are cooked in the kitchens of our Greek Orthodox Church by members of our community, helping support those most in need through compassion, care, and service.

We would love for you to come along, support the cause, and enjoy a great evening with us.

🎬 Europe Day Film Festival comes to Manchester 🇪🇺

This May, Manchester will host a fantastic celebration of European cinema as the III Europe Day Film Festival arrives in the city. Bringing together an inspiring selection of short films from across Europe, the festival celebrates creativity, culture, and the power of film to connect people.

Organised by the EU Consulates in Manchester alongside Instituto Cervantes, the festival takes place on Thursday, 7 May 2026, featuring a specially curated programme of animated short films from across the continent.

With Cyprus currently holding the Presidency of the Council of the European Union, Cyprus will also be represented with the award-winning short film The Tornado Outside (2023) by Cypriot director Maria Tomazou, as part of this year’s special focus on women filmmakers from Cyprus.

Expect powerful storytelling, striking visuals, and a unique opportunity to experience Europe through different perspectives.
