Itās been such a lovely and busy week here! š
This week weāve been exploring our emotions together. We started off with a fun, water-based activity where the children made their own ālove potions,ā mixing different coloured water using pipettes and jugs. While they poured and mixed, we chatted about what it means to feel loved and the special things that make us feel happy and cared for.
Weāve also really enjoyed reading The Colour Monster. The children talked about different feelings ā happy, sad, scared and loved ā and how those emotions feel in our bodies. We had lots of fun acting them out too, with stomping for angry, excited jumping for happy, and big smiles for feeling loved!
We spoke about ways we can āfill up our bucketsā and how we can help fill other peopleās buckets too by being kind and thoughtful. As part of this, the children took part in a biscuit-making activity. They loved mixing the dough, rolling it out and pressing heart shapes before we baked them in the oven. They were very proud to take their biscuits home to share with their families.
To finish our week, we visited Ashton Village and left small bunches of flowers on benches with uplifting messages attached for people to take home. January and February can sometimes feel a little dreary, so the children were excited to spread some kindness and brighten someoneās day with a cheerful message.
After all their hard work spreading joy, we popped into a coffee shop for a little treat.
A wonderful week of learning about our feelings, showing kindness and filling both our own and other peopleās buckets! šāØ
