Wellfield Infant and Nursery School A warm, nurturing two-form entry school for children aged 3–7, inspiring every child to thrive. This provides child care from 7.45am to 6pm throughout the year.

We have a specialist class for children with ASD and offer breakfast, after-school, and holiday clubs on site. Wellfield Infant and Nursery School is a two form entry school for children aged 3 to 7 years in the heart of Ashton on Mersey Village in Sale. The school provides a broad and rich curriculum for all it's pupils and has a strong reputation within the local authority and beyond. The school

also runs it's own out of school club - known as the Wishing Well. The school provides training and other professional development opportunities for staff from other schools and works in partnership with Manchester University and Altrincham Girls Grammar School to provide teacher training under the School Direct programme. We have a Nursery which provides for over 50 full time and part time places each year and are able to offer additional sessions to parents and carers for a charge. Nursery admissions are dealt with by the school and requests for a Nursery place can be made through the school office. School admissions for Reception, Year One and Year Two are managed by Trafford Council's School Admissions team. There is a small specialist class attached to the school for children with Social and Communication Difficulties and Autism. This is a mixed age class and caters for children from Reception to Year Two. Places are allocated via the local authority's SEND panel. Enquiries relating to admissions can me dealt with by the school office. 💛 And just like that… we’re back! 💛

There is something really special about the first day of a new school year — new beginnings, new friendships, new adventures and so many possibilities ahead. ✨

This morning, we came together for our first whole-school assembly and I asked the children a simple question:

🌟 “What would make this year amazing?” 🌟

We shared the story Whiffy Wilson: The Wolf Who Wouldn’t Go to School 🐺 and talked about how we can make our year amazing — by joining in, listening to each other, having a go even when things feel tricky, being kind and making the most of every opportunity that comes our way.

I loved hearing the children’s ideas and seeing so many excited faces looking back at me. ❤️

We also had the joy of welcoming our new children and families who started with us today. And the excitement continues tomorrow, when even more of our lovely Reception children join us.

As I looked around the hall this morning, I couldn’t help but feel incredibly excited about the year ahead. We have so much to look forward to, so much to learn and so many memories still to make.

Here’s to a year of kindness, courage, curiosity, laughter, learning and believing in ourselves. ✨

Let’s make it an amazing one. 💛

❤️ Every adult. Every child. Every day. ❤️

Today, our entire Wellfield Infants team is completing Day 2 of Paediatric First Aid training today.

Teachers, Teaching Assistants, our Leadership Team and Office Team have already completed six hours of essential learning through online modules, and today we are putting that knowledge into practice with a full practical training day.

Why does this matter?

Because when we say that the safety and wellbeing of our children comes first, we mean every single adult in our school community is equipped to help keep them safe. 🩷

It is unusual for a whole school team — across every role — to be Paediatric First Aid trained, and we are incredibly proud to be investing in this level of training for our staff.

From bumps and scrapes to those unexpected moments when a child needs urgent help, we want our team to have the knowledge, confidence and practical skills to respond.

A huge thank you to our staff for giving up their time, engaging so positively with the training and continually investing in their professional development.

Because our children deserve to be surrounded by adults who are ready to care, ready to respond and ready to keep them safe. 🌟

💛 Back to school… let’s make it a gentle one! 💛

As the summer holidays begin to draw to a close, thoughts may be turning towards new classes, new routines, new teachers — and perhaps a few butterflies too! 🦋

Starting a new school year is a big moment for children, and sometimes the best thing we can do is simply listen, reassure and give them time to adjust.

We love this simple guide, packed with practical ideas to help families prepare for the return to school — from easing back into routines and encouraging independence, to talking openly about worries and making goodbyes feel a little easier.

And remember… perfect isn’t the goal — connection is. ❤️

We’re really looking forward to welcoming all of our children and families back to school and starting another wonderful year together. 🌈✨

You’ve got this. They’ve got this. Let’s make it a great year! 💙

✨ What has made our children feel proud this year? ✨

This week, we spent some time in assembly celebrating something really special… the moments that have made our children feel proud of themselves.

Every child wrote their own proud moment on a Post-it note. Some were about learning something new, some were about showing kindness, making friends, being brave, trying something for the first time, helping others or never giving up. Every single one mattered.

Watching our children reflect on their achievements reminded us that success isn’t always about the biggest milestones. Often, it’s found in the small moments that build confidence, resilience and self-belief.

We hope you enjoy this little glimpse into the memories and achievements that have made our children smile this year. We couldn’t be prouder of every single one of them. 💛

“A proud moment may last just a minute,
But the confidence it builds can last a lifetime.”

☕🍰 A little time together to say thank you… 💗

Today we had the pleasure of treating our wonderful midday assistants to a special afternoon tea, beautifully supported by our fantastic Year 1 and Year 2 School Council representatives. Our children were outstanding hosts and should be incredibly proud of the kindness, confidence and respect they showed throughout.

Later in the afternoon, we welcomed our teaching staff and teaching assistants to enjoy scones, cakes and a well-earned moment together. In the busyness of school life, it’s important to pause and recognise the incredible people who make our school such a special place.

To every member of Team WINS – whether you’re welcoming children each morning, supporting learning, caring for children at lunchtime, keeping our school running behind the scenes or helping families every day – thank you. Your dedication, compassion and teamwork make a difference to our children every single day, and we are so grateful for everything you do.

Here’s to another wonderful year together. 💙
