🧊🌸 Born Curious: Ice Play! 🌸🧊

Our Born Curious babies have been enjoying some wonderful ice play this afternoon! We froze beautiful flowers in water and invited the babies to explore the ice using their hands. They were fascinated by the cold, smooth texture and loved watching the ice slowly melt as they played.

We heard lots of excited repetitions of “cold” and “splish splash” as the melting ice created new sensory experiences. 💦

It was a lovely opportunity for the babies to explore, experiment and follow their curiosity through sensory play. 💕

🍀🌿Born Curious: Exploring The Colour Monster☘️🍃

Our Born Curious babies have been busy exploring a sensory invitation inspired by The Colour Monster! 💛💗💚

We created our own homemade sensory sand using flour and baby oil, adding real flowers and parsley to bring natural textures, scents and colours into the experience. 🌸🌿

The babies were encouraged to explore through their senses feeling, smelling, scooping, tipping and pouring supporting their fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination and early problem-solving as they discovered how the materials moved. ✋✨

We also used the colours to begin talking about emotions and how feelings can look and feel different:

💚 Green Monster = calm
💗 Pink Monster =love
💛 Yellow Monster = happy

It was wonderful to watch our little explorers investigate at their own pace, making connections between sensory experiences, movement, colour and emotions. 🥰

🍋🍊 Born Curious Babies – Citrus Tea Party! 🫖✨

Our Born Curious babies had a wonderful morning exploring citrus sensory play, with lemons, limes and oranges ready for little hands to investigate! 🍋🍊🍈

Alongside the citrus fruits, we created a little tea party set-up with a tea set and water, encouraging our babies to begin developing their early imagination and pretend play skills. 🫖💦

They enjoyed pouring, stirring, squeezing, smelling, touching and tasting as they explored the different fruits and resources at their own pace. It was wonderful to see their curiosity, creativity and little imaginations coming to life! 👶💛

A morning full of sensory exploration, discovery and early imaginative play exactly what our Born Curious babies love! 🌱✨

🍓🫐 Born Curious Babies: Exploring Through Our Senses 🎨✨

Our Born Curious babies have been busy exploring blackberries and raspberries in a wonderfully sensory experience! They made marks with the berries, squished and squeezed them, explored their textures, looked at their reflections, and of course… tasted them too! 👀🫐🍓

This experience was all about curiosity, discovery and exploring what happens when we interact with materials in different ways.

It’s a lovely reminder that art doesn’t always need to have a finished product. Sometimes the process is the art the marks made, the colours discovered, the textures explored and the joy of experimenting. ❤️

Through these open-ended experiences, our babies are developing their senses, creativity and confidence to explore the world around them in their own unique ways. 🌱✨

We're so excited to finally see things coming together! 🌿✨

There's been some amazing progress on preparing our land for our future Forest School. The fencing is going up, the land is being levelled, and everything is starting to take shape. Every step brings us closer to creating a beautiful outdoor space where children can learn, explore, play, and connect with nature.

It's incredible to watch our vision become a reality, and we can't wait to share more updates as the journey continues. Thank you to everyone who has supported us so far—we're one step closer to opening the gates to our very own Forest School! 🌳💚

Today our Born Curious Babies embraced the joy of nature through hands-on sensory play! 🌻🧡

Our little explorers loved getting their hands messy as they made mud pies using real soil and beautiful sunflowers and their petals.

We also created soft, chocolate-scented cocoa playdoug, using it to make beautiful flower pies inspired by everything we discovered outdoors.

These simple experiences encourage curiosity, creativity, sensory exploration, and a love for the natural world. Watching our babies investigate textures, smells, and colours with such wonder reminds us that some of the best learning happens outside, where little hands are free to explore.

What a wonderful morning filled with muddy smiles, blooming imaginations, and lots of outdoor fun! 🌼🌿🌞

Our Curious Bakers Have Been Busy Today! 🍪

Today at nursery, our Curious Bakers have been busy making a delicious shortbread biscuit treat to enjoy after tea! 😋

The whole nursery has been involved in this wonderful baking experience. Our younger Risers enjoyed a trip to the local shop to buy all the ingredients, while our Explorers carefully measured, mixed, and moulded the dough into tasty biscuits.

Baking is a fantastic way to develop early maths skills, teamwork, communication, and fine motor skills—all while having lots of fun! We can't wait for everyone to enjoy their homemade shortbread later today. 💛

Well done to all of our amazing little bakers! 👩‍🍳👨‍🍳🍪

🌸☕ A little adventure for our born curious babies and younger risers! 🌿

This week, our little explorers enjoyed a lovely trip to our local Costa and a visit to the local shop to choose some beautiful flowers for our activities. 🌺

The babies have been having so much fun exploring our garden and mud kitchen, getting stuck into sensory play and discovering the wonders of nature around them. 🌱🪴

Using the flowers we brought back, we have been creating our very own flower mud pies in the mud kitchen! 🥧🌸 The children loved getting hands-on, mixing, scooping, and using their imaginations to create their wonderful muddy masterpieces.

It’s been a fantastic way to encourage curiosity, creativity, and a love for the outdoors. 🌿✨

We’re refreshing our dress-up area to encourage even more open-ended, imaginative play! ✨

If you have any of the following items that you no longer need, we’d be so grateful for your donations:

🧳 Vintage suitcases
👠 “Clippy cloppy” shoes (adult shoes with a satisfying heel sound!)

We have moved away from children’s character dress-up costumes and are instead creating a collection of real-life accessories to inspire creativity, role play, and storytelling.

If you have any of these items tucked away at home, please bring them into the setting. Every donation is greatly appreciated and will be loved by the children.
