When the tide is high, Salcombe Estuary really comes into its own. There’s so much water and space to sail, making it the perfect way to explore the estuary from the best possible perspective. And today, it feels like we’ve got the whole place to ourselves — absolutely magical. ⛵️

Salcombe is a particularly beautiful place for Sailing, and you have a very good chance of seeing wildlife while you’re out on the water.

The Salcombe–Kingsbridge Estuary is itself a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and sits within the South Devon National Landscape. It has a remarkably rich mix of tidal mudflats, saltmarsh, creeks, rocky shores and marine habitats.

Family Sailing Lessons in Salcombe

Get the whole family out on the water and discover the fun of Sailing together in beautiful Salcombe.

Our family Sailing lessons are designed to be fun, relaxed and hands-on, with an experienced Instructor onboard throughout to guide you, build your confidence and keep everyone safe. No previous Sailing experience is needed — everyone can get involved, from learning to steer and handle the sails to helping the boat turn and change direction.

The upper Kingsbridge Estuary is quite different from the open, rocky coast around Salcombe. At low tide there are extensive mudflats, which are important feeding areas for estuarine birds. The wider estuary is designated as an SSSI and forms part of the South Devon National Landscape.

What a fabulous day on the water! Our young sailors had the perfect introduction to Sailing, learning the basics, building confidence and, most importantly, having lots of fun along the way.

There’s no better way to get youngsters started in Sailing than by giving them the chance to have a go, develop new skills and experience the freedom of being out on the water.
