A timely newsfeed reminder of classes at my old studio in Marine Court. Last week I held my first kids pottery club sessions since lockdown for a group of Home Ed children. 4 in each group. Will post some photos of finsihed works when they have been glazed. My new studio is on the brow of the hill on West Hill Road, where I will be holding regular weekly classes for chilfren.

In May after lockdown I am planning on opening my studio again after having a reorganisation of work spaces to allow for distancing and also accommodate new equipment. Will let you know what the plan is soon.

Due to the last year of lockdowns nothing much has happened on the teaching front. This could be an ongoing situation which means a total rethink of how to work with it. One idea is to work outside in the fresh air, do some raku firings etc, and I have a good space for that but weather permitting of course, and that is the wind. The other is to work one to one possibly or even two in a bubble, and providing the knowlege through demonstration, then, I can leave you to it, which would mean me leaving the studio after an initial consultation and providing the materials and a demo on building in whatever way is most suitable, using either hand built/thrown ware. Anyway just thinking on about possibilities.

Here we are in a brand new year, but due to restrictions not much will be happening for a bit on the teaching front.

I have however enjoyed the time to get on with my own work and also plans for some new forms, and time to rediscover old glazes perhaps. We shall see what takes the mood. Looking forward to that.

Happy New Year to you all... we just have to get on with it and stay sane and make the most. Enjoy what we have. There's quite a lot out there.

What an impossible year it has been, however we had the best summer weather ever in the South East. But it was just somewhat difficult for contact meetings. Fingers crossed for a kinder time soon.
