'REVUELTERÍA': used mainly in El Eje Cafetero and Antioquia, means a small neighborhood shop that sells fruits and veggies, like a “greengrocer’s.”

💡Did you know that around 4.000 Spanish words are derived from Arabic? We call them “arabismos”.

☪️🇪🇸This is because Arabs occupied most of the Iberian Peninsula (nowadays Spain) for about 800 years. Between 711 and 1492.

Look at some words we use everyday at home 🏡 (casa=house).

Here you have the closest equivalent in English that I found:

😍Dichosos los ojos que te ven: “You’re a sight for sore eyes” o “It’s good to see you”

🤑Costar un ojo de la cara:”To cost an arm and a leg”

🏃🏻‍♀️En un abrir y cerrar de ojos: “In the blink of an eye”

👀Echar un ojo: “keep an eye out”

🕵🏻‍♀️Echar el ojo:”To have one’s eye on something/someone”

👍🏻Tener buen ojo: “To have a good eye for something”

In Spanish we use these expressions the whole time, let’s use them in context!

Running out of ideas about how to practice your Spanish?

🇬🇧I understand that learning Spanish isn’t your only priority in life, so I suggest focusing on bitesize activities. There are plenty of resources available, but it’s important for you to figure out what YOU enjoy.

🚣Remember, just a little every day is enough, and learning a language is a very rewarding experience, so you should enjoy the journey.

🇨🇴 Sé que aprender español no es tu única prioridad en la vida, así que te recomiendo establecer actividades cortas y realistas; hay muchísimos recursos disponibles pero es importante que sepas qué disfrutas TÚ.

🚣Recuerda que un poco cada día es suficiente y que aprender un idioma es una experiencia muy gratificante, así que es importante que disfrutes el proceso.

One of the first things we learn in other languages are the words ‘thank you: gracias’ and ‘you’re welcome: de nada’.

And to expand your vocabulary, here are some other ways to say ‘de nada’ to make you sound like a local.
