A colourful kiln-full of wonder, ready to be unloaded. It is always amazing to see what people make and this load of customers' creations is full of fun pieces, made by people with little or no experience on the wheel in our one or two-hour sessions. After the lesson, Angela does all the more mundane jobs of trimming, attaching handles, spikes or whole faces to these pieces, before handling the bisque firings then glazing and firing again. Our Rohde Ecotop kiln has been working flat out for over 7 years and has been amazing and just plugs straight into a normal plug socket. When we got it we had to seek out the most energy efficient one we could due to the electrics in our old studio but it ended up being a blessing and serves us well. Pottery equipment has developed so much since Angela first started over 30 years ago.
Now to get everything safely wrapped up and posted so people can see their wonderful creations; there are some great designs in the kiln but we won't show them yet as the makers should enjoy them first.
Angela has had a bad flare-up of sciatica in her leg which has meant the last months have been a little slower in the studio and a bit restrictive, but hopefully she is on the mend and catching up and back in full swing for the remainder of the holidays.
