Today, Wednesday 20th May, we’re celebrating National Numeracy Day — a day to recognise the huge part that numbers play in our everyday lives! 

Whether you’re checking your bank balance, following the football scores, or baking a cake — numbers are everywhere! 🏦⚽🎂

This year’s theme is “Count on Your Community” — because building confidence with numbers doesn’t happen alone. It grows through support, encouragement, and the opportunities we create for each other.

You’ve done the practice papers, survived the revision sessions, and mastered the formulas. Now it’s time to show that exam paper who’s boss.
💡 A few quick reminders before you head in:
• Read the full question: Sometimes the answer is hidden in the wording.
• Show your working out: Even if the final answer goes rogue, those method marks are gold dust! ✍️
• Check your units: Don't let a missing "cm" or "£" cost you a mark.
• Don't panic: If a question looks like it’s written in ancient hieroglyphics, move on and come back to it later.

The big week is finally here, and all of us at Eccleston Maths Centre want to send a massive "Good Luck" to every Year 6 student starting their SATs tomorrow!
We know how hard you’ve been working. From mastering long division to conquering those tricky fractions, you’ve shown incredible grit and determination. Remember: these tests are just a chance to show what you know, but they don't show everything that makes you amazing.
💡 Top Tips for the Week:
• Trust the Process: You’ve done the practice, now just take it one question at a time.
• Read Carefully: Give those word problems a second look before you dive in!
• Power Up: Get a good night’s sleep and a healthy breakfast. 🍎🥣
• Stay Positive: If a question is tough, move on and come back to it. You’ve got this!

📅 Welcome to May — the countdown has begun.

With the first maths exams starting on 14th May, many students sitting their GCSEs this year are entering the final stretch. For parents of Year 10 students, this is a valuable reminder: this time next year, it will be your child.

Starting preparation early can make all the difference. Building strong foundations now helps reduce stress later and gives students the confidence they need going into Year 11.
