Thank you so much to Rainford Horticultural Society who donated £250 for our Budding Gardeners. At Brook Lodge we work hard to encourage all our children to take part in gardening and to look after nature in their community whilst learning about plans; fruits and vegetables. The funds will be used to help improve the front of our school grounds. We hope that some of our children go on to take up this wonderful hobby or even use it as a means to make a living one day!

The children (and staff) had a great time completing our sponsored colour run. We raised over £2000 which is fantastic and we'll be reinvesting this into equipment for play next year. Thank you for all those that sponsored us and a big thank you to Mrs Gill for organising.

🏏 What an incredible day at the Y3/4 cricket tournament! The children were absolutely fantastic, showing amazing bowling, batting, and fielding skills throughout every match.

I was genuinely amazed by their talent, determination, and teamwork. It was wonderful to see everyone encouraging each other, playing with such enthusiasm, and giving their all. We are so proud of every single child for their effort, sportsmanship, and positive attitude.

Well done to everyone who took part – you were all brilliant! 👏🌟

These children had a fantastic time taking part in a variety of fun tennis skill games designed to develop their coordination, agility, and racket control. Through a series of mini activities, they practised key tennis skills such as balancing the ball on the racket, aiming at targets, dribbling the ball, and improving their hand-eye coordination. The games encouraged teamwork, confidence, and active participation, while ensuring everyone had fun learning the fundamentals of tennis in an engaging and supportive environment.

This term the children have been busy planting lots of vegetables from the greenhouse. They have planted kale, cabbage, leeks, courgette, beans, peas, and beetroot. With the recent heat the children have used the water butts to keep all the vegetables well-watered and are now enjoying harvesting and sampling some of the produce they have grown.

What a week! ☀️
Thank you to our amazing staff, parents and children for their support throughout this exceptionally hot week.
We took the decision to remain open all day every day because we were confident we could do so safely, with sensible measures in place to keep everyone comfortable and well cared for. We know not every school made the same decision, but ours was guided by what we felt was best for our children, families and community.
Most importantly, we believe every day of learning matters.
I couldn't be prouder of the resilience shown by our pupils or more grateful to our staff for going above and beyond in challenging conditions.

Linked to their study of Ancient Egypt, Year 3 spent a whole day recently, taking part in an Ancient Egypt workshop. We discovered how a body was mummified, got up close and personal with artefacts, and played some traditional Egyptian games. In the afternoon, we were in charge of our very own city and had to try and prepare our cities for catastrophic events! Our guide, Ari, trained us to be scribes and even showed us how to write in hieroglyphs!

Year 4 had a wonderful visit to the Al-Rahma mosque in Liverpool. We explored all 3 floors of the mosque, learned about their religious practices and even heard the call to prayer being performed! Year 4 were engaged throughout and enjoyed asking questions to deepen their understanding of the Islamic religion. By learning about different faiths and beliefs, children develop understanding, empathy and respect for others. Understanding helps to break down barriers, challenge misconceptions and build tolerance, preparing our pupils to thrive in a diverse and inclusive society. Thank you to our hosts for making us feel so welcome.

Last week, these children proudly represented school at the Inter-School Debate Challenge, showcasing their confidence, teamwork and impressive public speaking skills.

The children took part in two thought-provoking debates, exploring important topics that encouraged them to research, think critically and present well-structured arguments based on the rules for the traditional Oxford University Debates. The first motion focused on “Why animal zoos should be closed”, where they considered issues surrounding animal welfare, conservation and the role of zoos in modern society.

The second debate explored “Why screen time shouldn’t be limited by law for children”, allowing pupils to discuss the benefits of technology, digital learning and the importance of personal responsibility when using screens.

The children demonstrated excellent preparation, respect for opposing views and the ability to communicate their ideas clearly. We are incredibly proud of the way they represented the school and showed such enthusiasm for debating challenging issues.
