What a month it has been for our amazing post 16 students.

We started our giving back project at the end of November and it's safe to say we are so proud of them.

The ideas from young people bounce of each other, the energy is electric and the heart In each one of them is golden.

They started out by rolling their sleeves up and volunteering across two local food banks, meeting some amazing people along the way!

They asked staff members to help out with the Dunelm Christmas appeal, which helps to make sure nobody wake up Christmas morning without a present.

And finally when discussing the idea of 'warm spaces.' Around the area they decided this wasn't enough. How could the elderly leave their homes freezing in icey conditions to access these places?.. and so they created the idea to make warm hampers and deliver them across the area. With the help of Evolution Recruitment-solutions and their extremely kind donation ( Even a little help from Scott) they where able to make hampers for 11 elderly people, all who where extremely greatful.
Message from post 16 ... if you see something you don't agree with, don't just share a post on social media, roll up your sleeves and do something about it.'

We would love to say a huge thankyou to everyone at StHelens Foodbank for allowing our learners to volunteer over the last few weeks.

Our students have come on so much in terms of confidence, communication and social skills.

Our learners for what ever reason have become disengaged with mainstream education and we work hard to find them local opportunities to gain work experience/volunteering opportunities.
Mark welcomed us with open arms and was really happy to give our learners the opportunity and we can't thank him enough for that.

If any other local organisations/charities would be willing to give our learners these opportunities please get in touch :)

We're searching for an employer in the animal care industry in St Helens to take on one of our gifted learners as an apprentice veterinary nurse or groomer.

Hiring an apprentice is a productive and effective way to grow talent and develop a motivated, skilled and qualified workforce. 86% of employers said apprenticeships have helped them develop skills relevant to their organisation and 78% of employers said apprenticeships helped them improve productivity.

As well as operational benefits, there are also plenty of financial benefits, for example the government offers £3000 as an incentive payment for hiring apprentices, as well as funding to help your apprentice complete any necessary training.
