Inclusive and Adaptive Cycling is back! 🚲

We had an amazing time at Par Track this week where we began the first block of the inclusive cycling sessions that will be taking place throughout the year. These are put on by The Cornwall Bicycle Project CIO as part of the British Cycling limitless programme.

Not only are these sessions great fun but they also help to develop the children's physical, social and emotional skills and ensure that all child can have a go at cycling!

The work of the Cornwall Bicycle Project is incredible and we are very grateful for all that they do for our pupils but also for the local community! 🙌

✨⚽ St Mewan School Football 26/27 ⚽✨

Sport and physical activity is something that we value highly at St Mewan and football is a specific sport that our St Mewan School community is very enthusiastic towards.

We've had record numbers at our KS2 Football clubs already this term with over 100 pupils getting involved. Such great numbers has led to us being able to create 11 different St Mewan football teams to ensure that all pupils who come to our clubs, get to represent our school within the sport.

We've also decide to change the names of the different teams to ensure that every team is viewed and valued equally and with great excitement and enthusiasm (see poster).

The above has only been possible due to our amazing staff members giving up their time to organise and run our football clubs and attend the numerous fixtures planned. We also appreciated all of the support given by the parents, guardians and families of our pupils. All of this highlights have brilliant our St Mewan School Community truly is!

We can't wait to get the season underway in the coming weeks and for what's set to be an even more jam-packed year for football and sport than ever before! 🙌⚽🖤💛

This week, Art Club enjoyed celebrating National Dot Day, inspired by the idea that creativity can begin with something as simple as a single dot.

Our Year 1 children used LEGO to paint spots onto their chosen emojis, creating lots of fun and colourful designs.

Years 2 & 3 children used felt pens to design their own colourful dot spinner creations, experimenting with patterns, shapes and colour.

It was wonderful to see the children exploring colour, pattern and creativity in such imaginative ways. We are very proud of their fantastic artwork and enthusiasm!

The day has finally arrived!

After months of planning, training and preparing, our three incredible coaches Ian, Matt & Tom have officially set off on their epic fundraising challenge to conquer 296 miles of the stunning Cornish coastline in just 3 days! 🌊🥾

The sun is shining, the weather is looking fantastic, and the stage is set for what promises to be an unforgettable few days. We’d like to wish not only our three amazing coaches but also all of their incredible support walkers and support drivers the very best of luck as they begin this huge adventure.

Our talented Year 2 Art Club children have been working incredibly hard on a special upcycling project, transforming our school boat into a beautiful memorial garden.
Working together as a fantastic team, the children painted the boat before creating beautiful flowers from recycled materials. Using the bottoms of plastic bottles for the petals and plastic egg cartons for the centres, they painted each flower with vibrant acrylic paints and carefully added fine details. Their colourful creations now form a lasting feature of the memorial garden, bringing beauty and meaning to this special space.
The children also developed their fine motor skills by making paper finger snakes and colourful lizard keyrings using pony beads.
We are incredibly proud of their creativity, teamwork, and care throughout this project. They have created something that the whole school community can appreciate for years to come.

We are delighted to share that, thanks to your incredible generosity and support, our Summer Fair raised an amazing £2,443! It was a wonderful sunny afternoon, filled with fun, laughter and a fantastic sense of community.

A huge thank you to everyone in our wonderful St Mewan community who helped make the event such a success. Whether you donated prizes, baked a cake, volunteered your time, or came along on the day to support the fair, we are so grateful. Thank you for helping us create such a memorable afternoon and for raising an incredible amount that will benefit our children.

What a fantastic term we've had in Year 1 Art Club! The children have been busy exploring a range of exciting art and craft activities, showing wonderful creativity and enthusiasm throughout.
Using clay, they carefully sculpted their very own Pout-Pout Fish before bringing them to life with colourful acrylic paints, just in time for the film release in August.
They had great fun making spiders using pipe cleaners and pom-poms, creating some wonderfully imaginative designs.
One of the highlights of the term was designing their own tie-dye T-shirts. The children were excited to experiment with a choice of two different tie-dye techniques, with each T-shirt turning out completely unique!
We also upcycled acoustic wall panels into beautiful photo frames, decorating them with shells, sea glass and pasta to create seaside-inspired masterpieces.
To finish the term on a sweet note, the children decorated their own seaside-themed cookies, combining creativity with a tasty treat!
We are so proud of everything the children have created this term. Their imagination, confidence and artistic skills have flourished, and it's been wonderful to see them so engaged in every activity. Well done, Year 1! 🌟
