✨❤️ From Peru to Poltair...

This term, we were delighted to welcome our partner school from Peru into Poltair. Their visit was filled with shared experiences and unforgettable moments, from exploring St Michael’s Mount and learning ukulele together, to a lively game of rounders, making traditional Cornish Pasties and enjoying a vibrant Peruvian dance performed in traditional dress.

Despite language barriers, students connected with kindness, curiosity and genuine friendship. For those Poltair students who visited Peru in 2024, this reunion was especially meaningful and heartwarming.

This exchange continues to strengthen global understanding and create lasting memories for everyone involved. 🌍

🐴 Thrills & Skills at Barguse Riding Stables! 🐴

As part of Curriculum Enrichment Week, our Thrills & Skills students enjoyed an unforgettable day at Barguse Riding Stables, where they experienced first-hand what it takes to care for these incredible animals.

Students learned how to bathe and groom the horses, clean and look after the tack, and, of course, had the opportunity to ride a wonderful variety of horses of all shapes and sizes. It was fantastic to see everyone embrace the experience, with even those who were feeling a little nervous stepping outside their comfort zones and giving it their very best.

The day was filled with smiles, confidence, new skills and plenty of memorable moments, making it a real highlight of the week.

A huge thank you to everyone at Barguse Riding Centre for giving our students such a warm welcome and providing such an engaging, enjoyable and memorable experience. We are incredibly grateful for your time, expertise and hospitality.

Another successful year of work experience placements has come to an end for our Year 10 students, with opportunities across some incredible businesses in Cornwall and beyond.

It has been fantastic to visit our students in their placements and hear such positive feedback from employers. Here are just a few of the wonderful comments we received:

⭐ “Such a lovely lad. He really got stuck into every task. His first day was a baptism of fire as we were so busy, but he smashed it!”

⭐ “Volunteering proactively to get involved, asking questions and settling in really well. Notable experiences included looking after a sleepy dog following a dew claw removal and assisting during a dental clinic – no queasiness in sight from this student… a vet in the making!”

⭐ “They have been extremely kind and caring, helping with tasks without being asked. They even went one step further by cutting the corners off laminated awards so the children wouldn’t get hurt on the sharp edges.”

These comments perfectly demonstrate the enthusiasm, resilience and compassion our students have shown throughout the week, and we couldn’t be prouder of every single one of them.

A huge thank you to all of the businesses who welcomed our students, shared their expertise and gave them a real insight into the world of work. Your generosity, guidance and encouragement have made a genuine difference, helping to inspire confidence and shape the aspirations of our young people as they begin thinking about their future careers.

Thank you for making this year’s work experience programme such a success

🚎🚋🚍🌟Confidence, Independence and Real‑World Learning with Travel Training...

🚆 Year 10 kicked off their Advanced Travel Training Programme with a brilliant first day at Newquay Orchard!
Students learnt how to buy tickets, read timetables and navigate real train travel even handling delays and a cancellation with confidence. A huge thank you to Paul from Great Western Railway (GWR) for giving students the chance to experience life as a conductor by scanning tickets. 👏

🚍✨ Day 2 took our learners across the border to the CityBus Depot in Plymouth, where they enjoyed a behind‑the‑scenes look at how a busy transport network operates.
They explored exciting apprenticeship pathways, tackled real‑world maths challenges, and even enjoyed a guided tour of Plymouth thanks to the fantastic CityBus team.
🍦 To round off an action‑packed day of learning and confidence‑building, students celebrated with ice cream on the beautiful Barbican.
