A huge congratulations to Chloe and Chester who collecting some very impressive A level results at Newquay Tretherras Sixth Form yesterday 👏👏👏

The former Brannel students opted to study at the Newquay-based sixth form, which had its best ever A level results.

Chloe said "College seemed big and scary. When I left school I wanted to take an academic path so I chose NT6 for the great support, small class sizes and close-knit community."

Chloe got AAA in Psychology, English Language and Computer Science and an A in her Extended Project Qualification.

Chester achieved AAA in Computer Science, Maths and Physics and an A* in his Extended Project Qualification.

Both have secured places at the University of Bath. Chester will be studying Physics and Chloe will be studying Psychology. We are so proud of their achievements and want to wish them every success as they begin the next stage of their journeys!

This past week, Kerris has been on work experience with Cathy Davis School of Art and has been up to some incredible things!

She has been to Newquay Aquarium, Tregargus falls, editing in the studio and to Chaos Radio for an interview! It is so amazing to see young talent being celebrated as her work is truly something to look out for. Kerris has also been exploring different medias such as paints, painting a beautiful picture of a pug on a heart shaped canvas.

Working with Cathy is such an amazing experience, it has opened her eyes to the opportunities right on her doorstep, including the ‘Young Photographer’ competition which Cathy is going to help enter Kerris into.

We have such insane talent in our young learners and Kerris is most definitely a brilliant example of this!

CCF Camp at Brannel School 🤩

Last week, nearly 40 of Brannel school combined cadet force completed the annual cadet camp where they spent the days doing military training, adventurous training, which included beach volleyball, TIBUA (training in built up areas), range day in the DCCT (dismounted close combat trainer) and wyvern challenge which composed of seven seperate activities in a competitive format. These activities included: air rifle shooting, laser clay pigeon, paintball close quarter battle with targets, command tasks, laser tag and a STEM challenge.

The cadets worked extremely hard, most of them being away from home for a week for the first time, they represented the school and the trust with exemplary behaviour and their rendition of 'Cornwall my home' was noted at the commanders meeting as a moral boosting sing-along.

Most cadets said that their highlight was the TIBUA training where they worked in a dark environment clearing rooms with paintball guns and night vision goggles.

This camp sounds like the most amazing experience and we are so proud of how our learners showed such bravery throughout!

Well done Brannel CCF !!!!

The year 10 learners became chefs yesterday with ‘School Of Dough CIC’ making beautiful pizzas and mocktails putting their best culinary skills to use. They learnt how to roll dough, cook pizzas, make up the boxes and create some beautiful drinks alongside!

These went down an absolute treat with staff and students with glowing reviews all around. Their skills grew throughout the day from complete novices to masters of dough, well done to our year 10s!!
