Last week at Little Nightingales Preschool, we enjoyed exploring our local community. Our toddlers and preschoolers visited the war memorial for Remembrance Day, and also stopped by the local aquatics store where the children had the opportunity to feed the fish. We love getting out as much as we can to help the children learn about the world around them and engage with their community.

🌹 On Tuesday, our Woodpeckers and Pre-Schoolers learned about the importance of Remembrance Day. They listened intently as we shared stories of bravery and courage, understanding why we hold a 2-minute silence to honor those who have fallen. It was heartwarming to see their respectful participation and thoughtful reflections. Together, we remembered and paid tribute to the past, nurturing a brighter future. 🌟

🎃👻 Halloween Fun for a Great Cause! 👻🎃

All our children had an amazing time celebrating Halloween! 🧙‍♀️🕸️ They came dressed in fantastic fancy dress costumes and helped raise £40 for Cracker Jacks Children’s Trust 💛 — a wonderful charity supporting children with disabilities and their families.

The day was filled with Halloween crafts, games, dancing, and party fun — plenty of smiles, laughter, and spooky excitement all around! 🕷️🧛‍♂️

A big thank you to everyone who took part and supported such a great cause! 🧡🖤

📚✨ This month, our wonderful Woodpeckers (ages 2-3) embarked on an exciting journey to celebrate Black History Month! Through the engaging stories of "We All Belong" and "I Love My Hair," the children explored themes of diversity, belonging, and understanding similarities and differences. These beautiful books prompted thoughtful discussions, enriching their learning and appreciation of the world around them. Our young explorers made connections that will inspire them for years to come. We are proud of their curiosity and enthusiasm on this heartfelt topic! 🌍💖

🕷️ This week at Little Nightingales Preschool, Alexander Road, London Colney Primary School 🕸️

We’ve been learning all about the life cycle of a spider! The children have loved creating spider and web crafts, matching eight legs to each spider, peg-number matching, and threading their own webs — all fantastic for counting and fine motor skills.

We’ve also been singing Incy Wincy Spider, reading Spinderella by Julia Donaldson, exploring our new supermarket role play, and even holding our own Little Nightingales Talent Show 🎤✨

🌟 Exciting Adventures in Pre-School! 🌟

Last week, our little adventurers took on a fun obstacle course challenge! With the help of our Room Leader Becca and our dedicated team, the children practiced their balancing skills on beams, jumped across stepping stones, tossed bean bags, and zoomed down the slide. They also showed us their important social skills by patiently taking turns and cheering each other on. 👫

The excitement didn't stop there! Outdoors, our budding nature enthusiasts explored the garden, collecting colorful autumn leaves that had drifted down from the trees. Armed with crayons, they created beautiful leaf rubbings, revealing the amazing patterns hidden within each leaf.

We're so proud of our curious and creative youngsters! 🍂✨
