Lessons are delivered online, or at my house, in St Albans. I am an enthusiastic Secondary English teacher, with over 20 years' experience, including as a Head of Faculty and Whole School Literacy Coordinator. I have a First Class BA Honours Degree in English and American Literature, from Warwick University, and a PGCE from Homerton College, Cambridge. During my time as a classroom teacher, my les
sons were graded Outstanding in lesson observations. I have qualified as an Advanced Skills Teacher and completed external marking. In my free time, I enjoy writing, and, in recent years, I have achieved recognition in poetry competitions. I am passionate about my subject and offer tutorials which are challenging and fun. I have helped students to achieve success at GCSE and A Level. Seeing my students gain confidence, make progress and really enjoy English, is immensely rewarding. Private tuition also gives me the excuse to reread my favourite texts and spend a few hours a week talking about books! I offer tuition for:
*GCSE English Language and GCSE English Literature
*A-level English
I offer tuition sessions online or, when possible, from my home in central St Albans. I can also offer tuition sessions during the school day, for A Level students with free periods. I am DBS checked, subscribe to the automatic annual DBS update service, and have a clear record. Some of my favourite texts to teach:
'Hamlet', ‘Romeo and Juliet’, ‘Macbeth’
‘Death of a Salesman’
'Atonement'
'A Streetcar Named Desire'
'A Doll's House'
