At Moss Bury School Nursery in Stevenage, they have been documenting the stories children share throughout the year. Revisiting these narratives supports connection, deepens recall and encourages confident use of new vocabulary — all key foundations for strong communication and language development.Storytelling isn’t just joyful… it’s powerful.

Exciting News from Stonehill School! 🌟

The sand area has had a wonderful transformation, and the children are already diving into it with curiosity, creativity and joy. This update wasn’t just about refreshing a space — it was about responding to children’s developing needs and interests, giving them richer opportunities to explore, imagine and learn through play.

From building, digging and experimenting to working together on shared ideas, the enhanced sand area is already supporting problem‑solving, communication and early STEM thinking in a natural, hands‑on way. It’s amazing to see how quickly the children have made it their own.

Here’s to more discovery, collaboration and sandy smiles ahead ✨

Following on from the fourteen very successful face-to-face Professional Dialogue sessions delivered across the county over the past month, fully funded by Hertfordshire County Council, there is one further opportunity to participate in an online session with our Early Years Advisers.

One theme that emerged in almost every district, is how helpful it would be if our Year 1 colleagues could be part of this training and have the opportunity to see the new Department for Education assessment supporting materials.

Feedback from the sessions has been extremely positive. Here are a few examples:

• A very useful session that has given me more confidence with my judgements - thank you
• Great opportunity for professional dialogue
• Enjoyed the session and feel much more confident about assessment
• Really useful chance for the professional discussion and comparison
• It was a very useful session and has given me confidence ahead of assessing the children
• It was brilliant!

The online session will take place on Tuesday 2nd June 1.00 p.m. to 3.00 p.m. Book using this link.

When you receive your confirmation email, please click the link promptly. This will direct you to the final joining link for the session. Accessing this in advance will help ensure you can join on time and avoid any unnecessary delays.

The sessions are fully funded, so if you have attended a face-to-face session, perhaps colleagues in Year 1 might like to attend this event. If you were unable to attend face to face, why not join us on 2nd June.
