St Albans Independent College founded in 1988, has established an excellent reputation for providing the highest quality education. Class sizes are limited to no more than seven students so that every student is assured of significant personal attention. This allows students to build confidence and achieve excellent grades. Our teachers are highly qualified and experienced, many of whom are curren

t examiners. The College promotes an informal and friendly atmosphere where students are on first name terms with teachers and there is no formal dress code. We offer a wide range and combination of A-level and GCSE courses. The high-achieving ethos at the College is fostered by our Student Mentoring system that continuously monitors students’ progress across all of their subjects. Mentors provide guidance and help motivate students to achieve their academic potential.

Join us for this one off event with Karolyn Shindler, author of Discovering Dorothea, and Dr Spyridoula Pappa, Senior Curator of Fossil Mammals. Hear all about the life and legacy of pioneering scientist and fossil hunter Dorothea Bate, including her time as Officer in Charge at Tring 1948 - 1951.

Specimens and library and archive collections connected to Dorothea's work will be displayed in this exclusive event. Showcasing the challenges and achievements of one of NHM's first women scientists.
