We are incredibly proud that Margaret Wix Primary School features in author Rachel Macfarlane’s newly launched book: Making School Unmissable.
This evening, Mrs Gibbs was delighted to attend the book launch and celebrate the sharing of ideas and approaches that help make school a place where children feel a strong sense of purpose, belonging, success, empowerment and adventure.
At a time when schools across the country are facing challenges around attendance and engagement, it is wonderful to see the work of our staff, pupils and wider community recognised as part of a publication that champions meaningful, inclusive and engaging education.
Being featured in this book provides an opportunity to share our journey with educators beyond our own school and to contribute to an important conversation about how we can ensure every child feels that school is somewhere they want to be, not somewhere they simply have to be.

☀️ With temperatures forecast to reach up to 32°C next week, we are taking a few extra steps to help keep children comfortable and safe in school.
Children may wear their PE kit from Monday to Thursday if they would prefer. Tuesday is class photos day so please wear uniform to school but bring PE to change into. On Friday, as part of our International Week celebrations, children are invited to wear their own cultural clothing or wear the colours of their flag - please ensure they will be able to keep cool in this clothing too.
Please remember to send children with a named water bottle and sun hat, and ensure sun cream has been applied before school each morning.
Thank you for your support as we navigate the hot weather together. 🌞💧🧢

🏏Despite not securing the win today against Skyswood, our cricket team showed fantastic resilience and teamwork in challenging, hot conditions. The children supported one another throughout and represented the school brilliantly with their positive attitude and sportsmanship.

As part of their geography topic on national parks, Monarchs have been busy developing their fieldwork skills through a comparative study of our local area.
The children investigated the purposes and features of national parks in class before carrying out environmental quality surveys and creating detailed field sketches of our school grounds. They also enjoyed a fieldwork walk to the local woods and field, where they collected data and gathered opinions about public green spaces and sustainability features within our community.
Back in the classroom, the children analysed their findings, compared them with the characteristics of national parks, evaluated the strengths of our local environment and suggested ways it could be improved.
What a great geography fieldwork week year six have had! 🧭🔍🌳📊✨

This week, a team of Key Stage 2 pupils proudly represented Margaret Wix at the St Albans District Sports Athletics Competition.
There were some fantastic individual performances, including victories in the girls’ throwing event and the Year 6 boys’ 100m sprint, as well as an impressive second-place finish in the girls’ long jump. We were also delighted to see seven of our athletes qualify for the sprint finals in their respective year groups – a fantastic achievement in such a competitive event. There were several other strong performances too, including a couple of agonisingly close fourth-place finishes in the girls’ long jump and throwing events.
Most importantly, every child demonstrated outstanding self-belief and resilience, giving their best in each event and supporting one another throughout. As always, we were incredibly proud of their behaviour, sportsmanship and the way they represented our school.
Well done to all of our athletes on a fantastic District Sports campaign! 🏃♀️🏃♂️🏅
