One of our favourite trees for year-round interest: Cornus kousa.

While the creamy-white bracts vary slightly between varieties, all produce a stunning display in late spring to early summer, followed by strawberry-like fruits and glorious autumn colour🍓 🍂.

What makes the flowers so striking are the four elegantly pointed bracts surrounding the central flower cluster, which are often mistaken for petals and create the beautiful display for which Cornus kousa is renowned.

Robust and easy to grow, they thrive in well-drained soil and make spectacular specimen trees.

Available in both standard and multi-stem forms.

Come and visit our nursery where our expert advisors will help you choose the perfect tree for your garden.

Our beautiful Crataegus × persimilis (Hawthorn) are alive with bees at the moment 🐝

Hawthorn blossom is a valuable nectar source for bees, butterflies and other pollinators, while the vibrant fruits provide an important food source for birds and mammals later in the year, making this a fantastic tree for enhancing biodiversity.

A compact, broad-headed tree, Crataegus × persimilis provides superb multi-season interest, with polished oval leaves that develop rich autumn colour and persistent showy fruits that remain well into winter.

This deeply rooting species is unlikely to cause problems with drains or foundations, making it suitable for a wide range of gardens and landscapes.

Available now from our Hertfordshire nursery.

A highlight from yesterday, with His Majesty the King and Kirsty Wilson, Head of Gardens at Balmoral Castle, receiving a rare Parrotia subaequalis.

The species is listed as Critically Endangered on the IUCN Red List. Its threatened status makes Parrotia subaequalis a prime candidate for ex situ cultivation in gardens such as the Royal Estates, where plants can be maintained by some of the nation's finest horticuluralists.

We were honoured to welcome His Majesty King Charles III to our Majestic Trees stand to receive an exceptionally rare Parrotia subaequalis  (Chinese Ironwood).

When we learnt that Balmoral Castle was interested in growing Parrotia subaequalis to further broaden the provenance of this critically endangered species, we had to source this specimen. The gift represents both a token of thanks for our long-standing relationship with the Royal Estates and a meaningful contribution towards the ex situ conservation of Parrotia subaequalis.
