Piano lessons with Viv I am an experienced piano teacher based in St Albans.

My lessons are tailor-made to the individual needs of the student from beginners to advanced players and I teach both adults and children. Enhanced DBS certified (awarded October 2019)

Welcome to my Piano with Viv page.

Below is an overview of how I teach. Please read on if you are interested in piano lessons for yourself or your children. I teach all ages.

Every student is an individual and we all learn in different ways. I therefore teach using a multi-sensory approach. My lessons are varied and include the following activities with an aim to developing well rounded musicians: listening, sight-reading, singing, playing by ear, improvisation, memorisation skills and theory.

Regular practise is required if you want to improve at a reasonable speed. During lessons I teach practise strategies to help students learn independently and effectively outside of our lessons. Guidance will also be given to parents where required.

Music is especially fun when shared and I encorage the playing of duets with myself, other family members and other students. I also encourage playing to other students at group sessions or end of term concerts. For the more competitive students there are a number of festivals that they can be entered into.

Finally, exams are optional. For those that do wish to take part in exams, all exam boards are covered.

The length of lesson is dependant on the student. They're typically between 30 mins to 1 hour.
