👋Hello

We're Sarah and Paul, and we built this.

Sarah is a Forest School practitioner and an FSA-endorsed trainer. She's the one who has spent years running sessions in the mud, on a patchwork of things that didn't quite fit - a booking page over here, a paper register in a damp folder, risk assessments in the boot of the car, and the whole day written up at nine o'clock at night from a notebook that had been rained on.

Paul builds software, and is now training as a Forest School practitioner himself. Which mostly means finding out, in the rain, what he could've been doing all along!

The Forest School app is built around the six principles, not around paperwork. The long game of planning, observing, adapting and reviewing across a term. Supported risk - the thing that lets you keep the fire, the tools and the stream instead of quietly dropping them. What a child was on the edge of last week, and what you set up this week because of it. And it all works with no signal, because the woods haven't got any.

This page won't be a sales pitch. Mostly it'll be activity ideas you're welcome to take for nothing, and plain answers to the questions we all end up asking.

One for the fellow Forest School leaders, Something we've been quietly building is finally ready to share...

For years, running forest school sessions has meant juggling registers, risk assessments, session plans, parent communications, bookings and tracking children's progress — often scribbled across notebooks, spreadsheets, and half-finished templates. Sound familiar?

Paul (my husband, Software developer extradinare, who is also currently training to be a Forest school leader) and I have spent the last while building The Forest School App — a tool made by Forest School practitioners, for Forest School practitioners, to take some of that admin weight off your shoulders so you can spend more time doing what you love: being outdoors with the children in your care.
We built it because we needed it ourselves. Our team are all Level 3 qualified practitioners and as a FSA-recognised provider, we know how much goes on behind the scenes of every session — and how that essential paperwork can take us away from what we do best to, working with the children in the woods! We created The Forest School App to take away some of that burden and ensure all that needs to be in place is right there.

We're so excited to open bookings for our Friday toddler/ preschooler Twiglets sessions, running from September in our beautiful woodland at Ashdon.

Twiglets is a 2-hour, child-led session where little ones get to explore, discover and play in nature at their own pace — mud, sticks, mini-beasts and all the wonderful wildness of the woods! 🌳🐛

📅 When: Fridays, from 11th September
⏰ Time: 9:45-11:45
🌲 Where: Our woodland site in Ashdon
👶 Ages: Walking - 5 years
💷 Cost: £10.50 when booked in a block (£12 for individual sessions)
