The growing of knowledge never stops. Tanya and Kerry have been to Penn Green this weekend to a conferences on Stronger Practice better out comes. Going on these adventures brings us knowledge and reassurance that we are on the right track to growing each and every child that comes into the setting. The growing never stops even after many years of nursery nurse adventures.

It's ok to go on adventure to the local park or a different area of your home not every adventure you take with your child has to cost money.
Being in contact with your own inner child is all they need to grow.

Wow we’re already into week 4 of the Summer holidays and what another fun week it has been! Some of the children and staff were lucky enough to see the Solar Eclipse, so we decided to create our own; even identifying different objects around the setting we thought might resemble the Eclipse! On Wednesday we had one of our transition sessions, giving the children the opportunity to begin to form strong bonds with their new keyworker, as well as meeting and getting to know some new friends! We demonstrated a particular interest in developing our gross motor skills in our large outdoor area where we skilfully kicked the ball to score a goal, working as a team and demonstrating a great sense of pride as we did so! After such a busy week, we enjoyed a calming sensory session with the large lights dimmed and small sensory lights to explore! We can’t wait to see what next week brings!

We are now half way through the summer holidays and our children are still making new friends and exploring more activities. Last week, our Giraffe and Penguin children mainly focused on activities surrounding food, especially the difference between healthy and unhealthy, following the new EYFS guidelines. Our Zebras and Lion Cubs have been getting messy! Exploring new sensory experiences and fun crafts, they have got involved in activities such as slime, paint, gluing and bubbles!

Week 2 of our Summer Holidays at Jack and Jills, was full of fun and laughter! The beautiful sunshine meant even more water play, giving us the chance to cool off while enjoying splashing with our friends. We also got a visit from a puppy called 'Cleo' the children were very excited and all sat lovely in the garden waiting their turn to give the dog a cuddle. The Penguins and Giraffes extended their skills to make delicious cupcakes, carefully mixing, pouring and sharing to make their creations. Teamwork was in full swing as the children worked together to build impressive towers, sharing ideas and encouraging one another along the way. The Lion Cubs and Zebras made a wonderful discovery in the garden...our very own pear tree was beginning to fruit! The children eagerly collected pears before using their fine motor skills to safely cut them independently. It has been another fantastic week filled with learning, creativity, teamwork, and plenty of summer smiles.

We've had a busy start to our summer holidays at Jack and Jill's. The children have been busy learning through play and creativity, making delicious jam tarts, exploring different painting techniques with balloons and creating colourful race tracks by driving toy cars through paint. We extended this activity and raced against our friends. We've made the most of the outdoors, enjoying the sunshine and working together to build an amazing scarecrow, splashing and experimenting during waterplay and enjoying plenty of fresh air adventures. Inside we have explored the playdough tray which has inspired imaginative creations and strengthened our fine/gross motor skills. Every activity has been filled with laughter, curiosity, teamwork and lots of opportunities to learn through fun experiences! We cant wait to see what the next few weeks of summer bring us at Jack and Jills:)
