🎨 The art of colour mixing: 4 rules that change the game...

When it comes to colour mixing, it can seem quite scary. But it doesn't have to be! Here are 4 tips to get you started:

1️⃣ Start with a limited palette. Magenta, cyan, yellow, white and black can get you further than you'd think. Fewer colours means fewer surprises - and from these five, you can mix pretty much everything:

Magenta + yellow = red 🔴

Cyan + magenta = blue 🔵

Cyan + yellow = green 🟢

2️⃣ Warm + cool of the same colour mix cleaner than opposites. A warm magenta and a warm yellow make a brighter orange than mixing across temperatures

3️⃣ Add colour to white, not white to colour. It takes far less pigment to tint white than to lighten a strong colour, so you'll waste less paint

4️⃣ Mix on the palette, not on the page. Get your colour right before it touches your paper or canvas - corrections are much harder afterwards

👀 A week in the studio: what actually happens here...

People often picture an art studio as a bit quiet, serious, everyone already knowing what they're doing. But here at Scribble Studio, we do things a bit differently.

Here's what a real week at Scribble Studio actually looks like.

🎨 Watercolour Tuesdays — a relaxed session where beginners and regulars sit side by side
🧵 Sewing & dressmaking evenings — the whir of machines and the odd "wait, how do I thread this?"
✂️ Printmaking — ink-covered hands and prints drying on every surface
🖌️ Your Creative Space drop-ins, mornings and evenings — no tutor, no pressure, just two hours to create
🧑‍🎨 Kids' art clubs — paint-splattered hands and zero self-consciousness
🧘‍♀️ Women's Reset Class - a time to be calm, and align your mind
