This term saw twenty-one of our own Holy Cross athletes attend Area Sports, hosted by Hillcrest school.
Despite it being another warm day, the children were unfazed by this and were excited to compete.
Area Sports is split into two sections: track and field. Field events include the vortex throw, the tennis ball throw and the standing long jump. Track events are the endurance race, mixed relay, sprint and hurdles.
Every child gave 100% to their event, resulting in Holy Cross returning to school with 5 medals, not bad for our little school with probably the smallest cohort there.
Not only did the children excel with their events, their behaviour was also impeccable. To also see them putting the techniques they have learnt in PE in to practice made us as staff very proud.

Huge congratulations to our 1st place winners today in the sack race, egg and spoon, and sprint race! Well done to all of our children who participated and brought amazing energy to our World Cup Theme Sport Day 2026. 🏆⚽🏃‍♂️ overall winning team will be announced in celebration assembly tomorrow.

Big thanks to Mr and Mrs Chapman for joining our Year 5 & 6 PE lesson today at Runcton Holme Bowls Club!
It was our first session on the green, and the pupils did a brilliant job getting to grips with the basics. We are looking forward to seeing how their technique develops next week.

Earlier today, Reception and KS1 pupils attended the third and final Active Kids Festival this academic year. They took part in a range of different sports such as curling, pickleball, and frisbee- some of which the children have never tried before. All involved really enjoyed the activities on offer, and learnt some new sports too.
