So, let’s talk about that ⤵️

Because somewhere along the way, teachers were made to believe that rest = laziness.

That if you’re not planning, marking, replying to emails or “being productive”, you’re falling behind.

But rest isn’t a reward.

It’s a requirement.

You cannot pour into your students from an empty cup.

You are allowed to sit down.

You are allowed to switch off.

You are allowed to be more than your job.

Tonight, if you’re resting and feeling guilty, then this is your permission slip to keep resting anyway.

Save this for the evenings when the guilt creeps in, and remind yourself:

You matter too. 🧡

And there should be no guilt attached to looking after yourself. 🧡

Many teachers are working harder than ever, taking work home, and answering emails late into the evening. But here’s the truth: if your mindset stays stuck in “I have to do everything” or “I’m failing if I can’t keep up,” working at home will feel like the new normal… forever.

Your mindset is the gatekeeper of your time, energy, and wellbeing. Change how you think, and you can:

➡️Set clear boundaries without guilt

➡️Stop letting work creep into evenings and weekends

➡️Finally feel in control of your time

➡️Protect your energy for the things that really matter

So ask yourself this ➡️➡️➡️If you don’t shift your mindset, how long will “home” feel like another classroom?

And then, if you want to start making the change, try this ⤵️ ⤵️⤵️
Start small — pick one boundary to hold this week. For example, set a clear “cut-off time” each day to close your laptop and step away from work. Use that time for something that recharges you — even just 10 minutes. Small, consistent actions like this can start to rewire your mindset and help you reclaim your home time.
Try it.
You've got nothing to lose but everything to gain.

✌️

Somewhere along the way, the message became:
💭 “Good teachers stay late and then work at home to get everything done.”
💭 “Putting yourself first means you’re not committed enough.”

But here’s the truth ⤵️
You can love your job and still want a life outside of it.
You can care deeply for your students and care for yourself too.

You deserve to create a working routine that fits your family, your energy, and your mindset ✌️✌️ not one that burns you out.
Your happiness isn’t selfish ➡️ it’s sustainable.
And a fulfilled teacher is a better teacher.

If this hit home, take it as your reminder: you’re allowed to put yourself first.
What’s one small change you could make this week to protect your energy? 👇

It’s Friday. Your nervous system is begging for a break.

And if you’re doing just enough in the classroom because of the heat., that is fine and it's good enough.

It's not laziness, it's not that you're not bothered or invested. It's survival.

You don’t have to be a hero. You just have to get through.

Give what you can and don't push yourself to give more. You're exhausted and so are the children 🫶

You don’t need someone to tell you it will get better in time.

You don't need someone to tell you this is just how it is in teaching.

You don't need anyone to tell you that it's a vocation, not a job.

You need real strategies, real support, and someone who gets it.

I’m not here to sell you “wellbeing hacks.”

I’m here to help you rebuild your life as a teacher in a way that works for you.

And if you're in, hit that follow button.

Never forget that you are more than your to-do list. If you're a teacher who is desperate to change your wellbeing then try this small action this week...

Set a 30-minute "non-negotiable switch-off time" each evening.

Choose a consistent time (e.g. 7:30pm) when you stop all school-related tasks—no emails, planning, or marking. Use that time for something just for you or to be fully present with loved ones.

This small boundary is essential not just for your own mental wellbeing, but for the people around you. Teaching can easily spill into every corner of your life, but intentionally switching off helps you reconnect—with your partner, children, friends, or even just yourself.

Being fully present, even for a short time, builds stronger relationships and reminds you that you're more than your to-do list.

Small habit. Big impact. Long-term gain.

Save this for when you need that reminder.

It’s so easy to let school take over your evenings and weekends…

Marking piles up, planning never ends, and suddenly you’ve missed that bedtime story (again).

Here are 2 things I’ve learned that make a huge difference:

1. Set a finish line. Pick a time to stop working—and actually stop. No “just one more thing.” Your family needs you, not your to-do list.

2. Book in the good stuff first. Put family time in your calendar like it’s a meeting. Because it is—and it matters just as much (if not more).

❤️You can love teaching and love your time at home.
It doesn’t have to be one or the other.

How do you protect your family time?

Feeling swamped by school stuff, life and the general chaos that we find ourselves in sometimes?

✨Then give box breathing a go 👇

➡️Box breathing is like your instant "pause" button for the chaos. When you're drowning in to-dos and your brain feels like scrambled eggs, this simple breathing trick can be a real lifesaver. It basically tells your body and mind to chill out for a sec.

➡️By focusing on those four counts – breathe in, hold, breathe out, hold – you're hitting the brakes on the overwhelm and giving yourself a chance to regroup.

➡️It's a quick and easy way to dial down the stress and get back to feeling more like yourself, ready to tackle whatever the school day throws your way.

Try it next time you feel overwhelmed and see if it helps you.
