⚽ NEWS UPDATE | James Lewis Begins Final Journey Home to Rugeley

After an extraordinary journey spanning almost 2,000 miles, local fundraiser James Lewis is now on the final leg of his remarkable challenge – dribbling a football all the way from Marrakech, Morocco, back to his hometown of Rugeley.

James took on the incredible feat to raise vital funds for St Giles Hospice, a cause that holds deep personal meaning, and has inspired thousands of people along the way with his determination, resilience and unwavering commitment.

The community is now being urged to turn out in force on Saturday 25th July to give James the hero’s welcome he has truly earned.

Arrival Schedule:
📍 Around 5:00pm – James is expected to run through Rugeley Town Centre.
🚧 Between 5:45pm and 6:15pm – Hagley Road will be temporarily closed as he completes the final stretch of his epic challenge. Residents are encouraged to line the route, wave flags and cheer him home.
🍻 From approximately 6:30pm – Celebrations will continue with James at The Chase Pub.

James has already raised an incredible amount for St Giles Hospice, but there’s still time to support his fundraising effort and help him finish this inspiring challenge on a high.

Once again we are incredibly proud of our very own Mr Foster who has, this weekend, completed the Three Peaks Challenge in memory of his team mate, Tom Johnson.

A huge congratulations to all the children who took part in the Waymax Self Drive Hire Design Competition. Waymax and ourselves were delighted by the creativity and effort shown in every entry, making the judging process incredibly difficult.

A huge well done to all of our winners and to everyone who entered. We are incredibly proud of the imagination and artistic talent on display.

We were especially excited that the four winning designs were professionally printed onto the Waymax vans, giving our talented artists the opportunity to see their artwork travelling around the local area.

We were delighted to welcome the vans to school, where the winners celebrated their achievement with a special photograph alongside their designs.

We are incredibly proud of Mr Foster 💙

While many of us are enjoying a well-earned rest this weekend, Mr Foster is taking on the Three Peaks Challenge to raise money in memory of his teammate, brother and friend, Tom Johnson.

Together with his football team, he will be climbing the three highest peaks in the UK, pushing through every step and every mile in honour of someone who meant so much to them all.

If you are able to support them, any donation—big or small—would be hugely appreciated. Every contribution will help the team pay tribute to Tom's memory and celebrate the lasting impact he had on those around him.

Junior Police Cadets Graduation – The John Bamford Primary School, Rugeley

We celebrated the completion of the 6-week Junior Police Cadet programme at John Bamford Primary School, Rugeley, with a Year 6 class.

The programme, run by PCSO Liz Hall and supported by Special Sgt Kevin Lee, helps to build positive relationships between the police and young people, while encouraging teamwork, confidence, and community awareness.

At the presentation event, the cadets proudly shared with their peers and parents/guardians what they had learned throughout the programme. Each child was presented with a certificate and badge in recognition of their hard work, enthusiasm, and commitment over the last six weeks.

A huge well done to all Cadets for their fantastic participation and achievements. You should all be very proud of yourselves!

Wellbeing Wednesday:

End of Year Reflection

As we come towards the end of the school year, it is a valuable time for our pupils to reflect on how far they have come. This year has been full of learning, growth and achievement, and we are incredibly proud of all that the children have accomplished.

In school, we encourage pupils to look back on:
• The progress they have made in their learning
• The challenges they have overcome
• The new skills and friendships they have developed
• Moments they feel proud of

Reflection helps children to recognise their own strengths, build confidence, and understand that progress takes time, effort and resilience. It also supports them in setting goals and feeling positive about the future.

We understand that each child’s journey is unique, and success can look different for everyone. Celebrating these individual achievements is an important part of helping children feel valued and motivated.

As parents and carers, you can support this by:
• Talking with your child about what they are proud of this year
• Celebrating both big and small achievements
• Encouraging a positive outlook on their progress
