Auto Cycle Union Ltd, ACU House, Wood Street, Rugby, Warwickshire, CV21 2YX. Formed in 1903, the ACU has a long tradition in the world of motorcycle sport being a founder member of the World Governing Body, the Federation Internationale Motocyclisme (FIM). The ACU has a major role in furthering the interests of motorcycle sport on a global basis. The ACU represents 23,000 licence holders, 3,000 volunteer Marshals and Officials, 550 members Clubs and issues up to 4,000 motorcycle sport permits each year. Domestically, the ACU provides for all forms of motorcycle sport ranging from Road Racing to all disciplines of Off Road activity and has successfully organised World class events such as Moto GP, World Superbikes, the Isle of Man TT Races, the Motocross of Nations and Trials Des Nations. The ACU aims to ensure that all people irrespective of their age, gender, disability, race, ethnic origin, creed, colour, social status or sexual orientation, have a genuine and equal opportunity to participate in motorcycle sport at levels in all roles. The ACU fully supports youth activity in all disciplines and through the ACU Academy, some of our young riders go on to become British, European and World Champions in their chosen sport.

GEORGE HEMINGWAY WINS 100TH SCOTT TRIAL
Richmond Motor Club
Beta rider George Hemingway defied his inexperience at the 100th Scott Trial to win the North Yorkshire event on Saturday (17 October) at only the second attempt.
Starting high above the market town of Richmond, the riders attempted 76 hazards over an 80-mile course on the exposed moorland. The event is based around the small village of Reeth and starts and ends high up on the Marske road.

Classed as the most demanding and ultimate test of rider and machine in a one-day motorcycle trials event, the Scott Trial once again lived up to its reputation with only 93 of the entry classed as finishers from a starting entry of 199 riders.

Organised by the Richmond Motor Club, the Scott Trial has a strong sporting heritage which dates back to 1914 and is unique in the fact that the rider’s time and observation scores are calculated together to find the overall winner.

TeamGB Managers Joe Wootton and Fionn Griffiths have praised the professionalism and determination of Great Britain’s riders after a challenging 100th edition of the 6DAYS FIM Enduro of Nations in Portugal came to a close yesterday (17 October).

The Great Britain squad travelled to Grândola with ambitions of challenging for honours across the Men’s, Women’s and Junior Trophy competitions.

TeamGB target Trophy success at 6DAYS in Portugal

TeamGB is targeting success across all three Trophy categories when the 100th edition of the 6DAYS® FIM Enduro of Nations gets underway in Portugal next week (12-17 October).

The Auto-Cycle Union has selected strong Men’s, Women’s and Junior Trophy teams for six demanding days of competition against 500 other riders representing 30 nations. The Men’s team is expertly managed by Joe Wootton, while the Women’s squad will perform under the watchful eye of Fionn Griffiths.

MXGB Youth, Women’s & Clubman’s Champions crowned at Foxhill

The Auto-Cycle Union’s 2026 MXGB Youth Championships were decided at Foxhill MX Track in Wiltshire at the weekend (3-4 October), bringing the curtain down on a strong season across the Youth, Women and Clubman classes.

As the home of Great Britain’s MXGP round, Foxhill provided a high-profile backdrop to the fifth and final round of a season that started in March at Fatcats, before visiting Preston Docks, Wroxham and Culham.

The series was once again organised by series promoters, British Youth MX, under the management and leadership of Christine Heathcote and Colin and Julie Hambridge.

Nine British champions were crowned at the weekend. Lauren Collingwood secured the MXGB British Women’s Championship with 730 points, ahead of Kelly Philips and Georgie Potter, while Mylie Evans was crowned MXGB British Youth Women’s champion with 755 points.

George Forrest took the British Auto Championship title, with Jack Waters winning the MXGB Youth Junior Championship after finishing the season on 767 points.

Frankie Noll claimed the MXGB Youth Small Wheel 85cc Championship with 707 points, while Casey Lister took the Big Wheel 85cc crown after a close title contest with Cohen Jagielski.

Malachi Allan was crowned MXGB British Youth MXY2 champion, finishing seven points clear of Marley Alder.

The Clubman titles went to Lewis Taylor and Sam Bishop. Lewis won the MXGB British Youth Clubman MX1 Championship with 758 points, while Sam secured the Clubman MX2 title with 687 points.

TeamGB scores best Motocross of Nations result in five years!

TeamGB secured its best Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations result in five years this weekend (3-4 October), as Ben Watson, Taylor Hammal and Ben Mustoe rode to seventh place overall at Ernée in France.

The ACU-backed squad arrived at the event following a productive pre-event training camp in the UK and with the target of improving on its 16th-place finish in 2025.

A total of 32 teams took part in the annual MXoN. DRT Kawasaki rider Hammal represented TeamGB in MXGP, Mustoe lined up on his ASA United GASGAS in MX2 and Watson raced his Dirtstore Triumph Racing machine in the Open class.

Watson, the most experienced member of the team and a former MXGP class winner at the Nations, finished 10th in his qualifying heat before taking 10th in Race 2 and ninth in Race 3.

Hammal was a superb ninth in his MXGP qualifying heat. He then finished 16th in Race 1 before taking 30th in Race 3.

Mustoe, the youngest TeamGB rider at just 17 years-old, finished 16th in his MX2 qualifying heat before taking a fantastic 23rd in Race 1 and 24th in Race 2.

Those results secured seventh overall for TeamGB – the squad’s best Motocross of Nations result since finishing third at Mantova in Italy in 2021.

Watson leads TeamGB charge at FIM Motocross of Nations

Ben Watson believes experience, familiarity, and a track that should suit the British riders can give the Auto-Cycle Union’s TeamGB squad a strong platform when the Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations gets underway at Ernée in France this weekend (3-4 October).

Watson (above right) will line up in the Open category alongside Taylor Hammal (above left) in MX1 and Ben Mustoe (above centre) in MX2 as Great Britain go
wheel-to-wheel with the world’s other leading motocross nations at one of the biggest events of the season.
For Watson, the pressure and intensity of the Nations are very familiar. The 29-year-old first represented TeamGB in 2018 and produced one of his standout performances at Mantova in Italy three years later as he won the MXGP class.

High-Stakes Championship Finale as MXGB Women’s British Championship Heads to FoxHills MX Track

The stage is set for an exciting championship finale as the MXGBW Championship heads to the iconic Foxhills circuit for the final round of the season.

With British Championship titles to be decided and a full weekend of racing ahead, Foxhills provides a fitting setting to bring the season to a close — and a fantastic opportunity for more female riders to experience an MXGBW Championship weekend for themselves.

A LITTLE EXTRA INCENTIVE FOR NEW RIDERS

There’s also an additional incentive for riders coming along to experience the championship for the first time at Foxhills.

New riders entering the championship at Foxhills will have their names entered into a draw, with one lucky rider having their race entry covered by Becky Bennett.

Becky has kindly offered to sponsor one rider’s entry as a way of encouraging more female riders to take the opportunity to experience an MXGBW Championship weekend.

The ACU’s FIM Trial des Nations Women’s team secured its status as the best in the world after taking victory at the 2026 competition in Arteixo, Northern Spain.

Having finished second in 2025, the Women’s squad was eager to go one better this time around and duly delivered a gold medal-winning performance.

Alice Minta (Beta), Kaytlyn Adshead (Vertigo) and former multiple world champion Emma Bristow all rode superbly – and under significant pressure – to see off the challenge from Italy.

In the Men’s competition, TeamGB fielded the youngest line-up at the TdN, with an average age of just 19 years-old. But Harry and George Hemingway (both Beta) and event debutant Harry Turner produced a fantastic display as they pushed Spain all the way to earn a comfortable second position and a trio of silver medals.

HICK MAKES A SPLASH AT LEVEN VALLEY TWO DAY

Scotland’s Leven Valley Two Day Trial attracted a capacity entry of 300 riders at the weekend, and it was Thomas Hick (pictured above) who rode his Fantic machine to overall victory as he finished just two marks in front of Lewis Johnson (Triumph) with third place Malcolm Summers (Fantic) a further mark adrift.
