GCSE Results 2026

Today we celebrate the achievements of our GCSE students.

More than half of all grades awarded were at the highest levels, 9-8 (A*), while three-quarters were 9-7 (A*-A) and 90 percent were 9-6 (A*-B). 31 percent of students secured at least eight grades at 9 or 8.

We are proud of all they have accomplished, both in and beyond the classroom.

Orlando and Rhys secure degree apprenticeships at PwC

Congratulations to Orlando and Rhys, who are joining PwC UK after achieving an outstanding set of A Level results, with five A grades and two A* grades between them.

Orlando and Rhys joined Rugby in F Block (Year 9) and have made a lasting impact at the School.

Orlando said: “I’m really excited to take on the challenge of balancing university with gaining valuable experience in the workplace. I’m grateful for all the opportunities and support I’ve had throughout my time at Rugby, and I’m looking forward to seeing where this takes me.”

Rhys said: “I am very grateful for the opportunity to join PwC while studying at the University of Nottingham and I am looking forward to starting this next chapter. The selection process, alongside the pressure of achieving the grades I needed, required a lot of hard work, but I’m so glad that it has all paid off.

“I’m especially thankful to the Futures and Careers team at Rugby School, who first introduced me to this degree apprenticeship and provided so much support and guidance throughout the interview and assessment process. I’ll especially miss my teachers and friends at Rugby, and I wish them all the best for the future.”

Anya celebrates place at Vanderbilt University, USA

Huge well done to Anya who has secured her place at Vanderbilt University to study Economics after achieving outstanding A Levels.

Anya joined Rugby School in E Block (Year 10) as an academic scholar and has made the most of her time at the School, contributing to events and academic enrichment programme.

Commenting on her results, Anya said: “I’m very grateful for the dedication and support Rugby School had given me throughout my time there. I’m looking forward to bringing my experiences with me to Vanderbilt and continue growing academically and personally.”

Rugby School is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr Simon Watson as Founding Principal of Rugby School Hanoi from August 2027.

An internationally respected school leader with more than three decades of experience, Dr Watson has led distinguished schools across Europe, Asia and the Middle East. He has served as Chair of FOBISIA, one of Asia’s leading associations of British international schools, and, more recently, as Chair of the Heads’ Conference (HMC) International Division in the Middle East.

Dr Watson said: “It is a privilege to become part of Rugby School’s story, as expressed in Hanoi. I am delighted to work with both Khai Sang Corporation and Rugby School to deliver an authentic, life-changing educational experience for every student over the years to come.”

Nick Bacon, Chairman of Rugby School’s Governing Body said: "We are delighted to have employed as the Principal of Rugby School Hanoi someone with Dr Watson’s impressive track record of commitment and achievement as a school leader. We look forward to his visits to Hanoi this coming academic year, which will involve numerous opportunities for parents, students and staff to meet him."

Rugby School Hanoi will welcome it's Pre-Prep intake from August 2026.

Bexie accepts place at Durham after achieving three A*s

Congratulations to former Head of School, Bexie, who has achieved three A*s at A Level and an A* in her EPQ, securing her place at Durham University to study Geography.

Bexie joined Rugby School in F Block (Year 9), from one of our prep schools, Bilton Grange Prep School and has contributed to all aspects of school life throughout her time at the School. Bexie became Head of School in XX and has made a lasting impact through her academics and leadership role. In addition to this, she has been a prominent sports player, most notably as captain of the 2nd XI hockey squad.

In a recent interview, when asked about what the most rewarding part of being Head of School was, Bexie said: “The role has been multi-faceted, and has provided me with amazing opportunities, challenges and experiences. The most rewarding part on a personal level has been my growth in confidence, that I will carry with me into university and beyond, into the workplace. Being in this position alongside John has been a real joy and has enriched the role as HoS because we have been in it together.”

On talking about her A Level success, Bexie commented:

“I’m delighted with my results and that all the hard work has paid off. It’s been a busy year balancing A Levels with my role as Head of School, and I’m grateful for all the support and encouragement I’ve received throughout. I’ve absolutely loved my time at Rugby, meeting some brilliant people and having the opportunity to get involved in so many different things. I’ll miss Rugby a lot, but I am equally excited about what comes next, and I’ll look back on my years here with great happiness.”

Lochie is heading to Leeds University to study Medicine

A huge congratulations to Lochie who after achieving three As is heading to University of Leeds to study Medicine. 

Lochie joined Rugby School in E Block and has made significant contributions to school life since joining. Whilst in the XX (Upper Sixth) Lochie served as co-curricular Levée and as part of his Rugby 360 Service, volunteered at Butlers Mews Care Home in Rugby. 

Lochie commented, “Being at Rugby definitely made my application to Medicine much stronger. I am very grateful to the staff behind the Aspiring Medic’s society for their endless support and encouragement.”

Jessica secures place at the University of Oxford

Congratulations to Jessica who has secured her place at The University of Oxford to study Classics at Somerville, after achieving three A*s.

Jessica joined Rugby School as part of the LXX (Lower Sixth) as an academic scholar and has made the most of her time at Rugby, commenting on her success, Jessica said: 

“Over the last two years Rugby School has been the cornerstone of my personal development and academic achievements. My education has always felt supported and enriched by the dedication of my teachers. Their belief in my ability and desire to see me flourish has truly helped me to come into my own academically both inside and outside the classroom. I am incredibly grateful for all of their support.”

A huge well done to Jessica and we wish her all the best in the next chapter at Oxford.
