I really feel like so many are experiencing same issues regarding present school systems and parents are kept in the dark or tried to be kept away from other parents whose children are experiencing the same issues.
I decided to create this space for parents to openly express and discuss issues their children and they themselves are having with Ashlawn school if they wish to and have the chance to connect with other parents experiencing the same things.
It can feel very lonely, isolating and helpless when you are experiencing issues and the focus and blame is put on your child and although there are many others also going through this you are kept away from them or they are brushed under the rug away from your attention to keep everyone seperate and to keep the issue being directed to the children as opposed to the failing narcissist system.
The schools have become too big and the large number of teenagers creates a dominant energy and with fewer staff than students and some of the adults cling for control and exert or display this by authoritarian, toxic, battle ship ways and means that create a ping pong game of friction, resentment and resistance and pettiness as opposed to a more peace, inspiration and flexibility.
The only place that the kids seem to be able to do this is in the hub where the amazing teachers in there take a way more nurturing approach of which is so valuable and much more effective.
Schools need to become smaller and balance needs to be brought back for both students and teachers.
The system is outdated- we don’t need the old Germanic system of producing obedient, silent, robotic factory workers who just follow what they are told and don’t step out of line or open their mouths.
This toxic system has two results - kids who express the uncomfortablity and communicate outside of themselves by resistance loudly and other kids who are externally silent but direct the uncomfortablity inside themselves and suffer silently or take out the frustration upon themselves. Schools have become like bad toxic abusive relationships bec the whole system needs updating and more communication is needed between all teachers all parents and all students to have full transparency and awareness of collective issues and for everyone to have their say and for everyone to hear it - everyone who is involved or contributes and has dealings with the school all together and if that can’t be done in a physical setting due to volume it can be done digitally.
