The Griffin Primary School

The Griffin Primary School A new primary free school opened in north Rugby September 2023

We are delighted to confirm that our long-awaited primary school is planned to open with up to 30 Reception children in September 2023. The Griffin Primary, a non-selective, state-funded, one-form entry primary school for children aged 4-11 years, will be located in brand new, purpose-built accommodation at the Eden Park development north of Rugby town centre. It will meet the growing need for add

itional primary school places created by several new housing developments in the area and will offer parents an additional option in their choice of school. Discussions are also in progress about us running the nursery for 3-4 year olds attached to the school building from September 2023. The school will be run by the ‘Outstanding’ Lawrence Sheriff School as its approved sponsor, which is forming a multi-academy trust (MAT) to ensure the highest quality of teaching and learning underpinned by robust pastoral care from day one. We hold that a happy school is a successful school, and that happy students are better placed to achieve academic success. Central to our vision is that we will create an inclusive school community with a warm and positive environment where every pupil is valued as an individual and can flourish and be happy, kind and confident. Children will develop a love of learning through an enriching curriculum that combines support, challenge and fun. Applications for 2023 Reception places must be made directly to The Griffin Primary School and are in addition to the usual local authority process: www.thegriffinprimary.uk/apply

Make some recycled art with your pupils!
Get your pupils collecting plastic bottle tops and blue plastic bags — then turn them into a beautiful collage to brighten up your school. Our Better Planet Schools plastic and waste module helps children understand plastic pollution and discover the many benefits of recycling in a fun, hands-on way.

The Griffin Primary School in Warwickshire recently completed the module:
"The Eco-Club looked at the Better Planet Schools PowerPoint about plastics and decided to create a piece of art using recycled plastics. We asked the whole school to collect blue plastic bags and different colour plastic bottle tops and then made a collage to put up in the hall and help educate the other children about the increase in plastic pollution in the seas and oceans."
— Alison Hine, Headteacher, The Griffin Primary School, Warwickshire

Download our plastic and waste module and gain access to 10 other exciting modules — sign your school up to Better Planet Schools completely free of charge. You could even win prizes for the environmental action your school takes as part of the programme!
