IT’S COMING HOME 🏆

To celebrate England getting through to the World Cup Semi-Final, we’re inviting the children to come to Pre-School dressed in their England kits, or wearing something red/white this WEDNESDAY. ♥️🤍

The children will also have the opportunity to have their faces painted! If you do not want your child to have a flag painted on their cheek or arm, please let Mrs Cobley or Miss Reed know. Thank you. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

How strong is an ant? 💭

This week we’ve been busy investigating just that!

We explored the school grounds and used magnifying glasses to hunt for ants in nature 🔍

We worked as colonies to lift and move heavy objects 💪🏼

We created ant farms with paint and fingerprints 🫆

We used large items such as logs, planks and branches to create our own ant trail, strong enough for us to walk across! 🐜🐜🐜

This week, our mini-beast topic focusses on ladybirds 🐞

The children enjoyed using construction materials to decorate a giant ladybird 🧱

We made ladybird fact sheets and created some beautiful writing! ✍🏼

Not only have we practised writing words, but after counting rows of ladybirds, we’ve written numerals too! 🔢✏️

We read ‘The Bad Tempered Ladybird’ and used a clock to recall the story, identifying the different animals he meets on his journey 🐞🐜🐝🪲🐦‍⬛🦞🐍🦨🦍🦏🐘🐋

Green Room have butterflies! 🦋

One was very eager to spread its wings and fly away, while the other is needing a little more nurturing until it’s strong enough to be free.

The children thoroughly enjoyed being able to handle one today. They were so gentle and we couldn’t believe how beautiful its bright orange wings are!

Hopefully another night of fruit and sugar water will do the trick and tomorrow, we can set this one free too 🧡

Yesterday, we enjoyed water play outside to keep us cool. We made magical potions, experimented with pipettes and syringes, and used natural materials to create delicious meals 💦🌼🌿✨

Today, as part of this week’s question: “Why did Norman want to change his shell?” - we had our own snail races. The snails were split into teams of two and even assigned a colour! After lots of attempts to slither off course, the orange team won! 🐌🐌🐌
