🌱🪏 We have been celebrating National Allotment Week, which runs from 10-16 August 🪏 🌱

Our children have been busy making the most of our own Allotments, getting stuck into planting, growing, watering and seeing what’s beginning to appear. It’s been a challenge in the hot weather but we have managed to keep everyone safe 😎🍅🌶️🌽

Growing things gives children a chance to understand where food comes from, while developing patience, responsibility and a real connection with nature. There are benefits for adults too - getting outside, being active, slowing down and simply spending time growing something is good for both physical and mental wellbeing.

Do you have an allotment, or grow fruit, vegetables or herbs at home? We’d love to hear what you’re growing 🪴🍅

After such a hot week, we’re hoping for a good, and possibly much cooler, weekend. And, if we’re being honest, doing a little rain dance and hope we get some of that wet stuff fall from the sky! 🥵🙏🌧️

🧸🌸 Today was our annual Teddy Bear’s Picnics 🌸🧸

There’s something very special about our Teddy Bear’s Picnics! 💕 Our children bring their favourite teddy or soft toy friend, and it is always lovely to see how proudly they introduce them to everyone.

We always love hearing the stories behind these much-loved companions - why they are special, where they came from and the memories they hold. For the children these treasured toys can represent security, comfort, reassurance and love, holding a very special place in their hearts. 🥰

And let’s be honest… many of us still have our own favourite soft toy tucked away somewhere! There’s something timeless about that special friend who has been there through bedtime stories, adventures, tears and cuddles. 🧸❤️

The children had a wonderful time filled with teddy bear-themed activities, games, stories and plenty of cuddles, with their furry friends joining in the fun every step of the way. 🧸

And, of course, our wonderful cooks didn’t disappoint! 🐻🍽️ They created a very special bear-themed tea, which was almost too cute to eat!

We’ve had a wonderful day celebrating friendship, comfort, childhood memories and the little things that mean so much. 🧸💕

👏 This is a fantastic achievement and reflects the hard work, dedication, and commitment Paige has shown throughout her training. 💛 We’re so pleased to see her continuing to develop her skills and provide such wonderful care to the children in our Bluebell Room.

🎉 Celebrating 10 Incredible Years of Lauren! 🎉

Today we’re celebrating a very special milestone as our wonderful Early Years Curriculum Lead, Lauren, marks 10 years with The Wendy House. 💚

Lauren is quite simply an outstanding Practitioner, who goes above and beyond every single day for the children in her care. Her kindness, dedication, creativity and unwavering commitment to giving every child the very best start in life make her an inspiration to us all. She is an incredible role model for our team - if we could, we’d clone her! ❤️

As the head of our pre-school Willow Barn, Lauren leads with warmth, professionalism and endless enthusiasm. Over the past decade, she has helped prepare hundreds of children for their exciting journey to school, leaving a lasting impact on so many young lives and their families.

We are so incredibly grateful for everything you do, Lauren. Thank you for your loyalty, your passion, your tireless hard work and for being such an exceptional member of The Wendy House family.

Over the past week we have celebrated some very special milestones at our Graduation ceremonies at both Shingay and Impington. They mark the start of our goodbyes to another wonderful group of children ready to begin their next adventure at school. 💚🎓

Our Willows Graduation Party at Shingay was filled with laughter, excitement and so many happy memories. The sunshine provided the perfect backdrop as the children enjoyed our traditional country fayre with hook-a-duck, hoopla, the coconut shy, and they welcomed their Mummy’s and Daddy’s, which made it all the more special.

A heartfelt thank you also to Jem for once again bringing along Tux, his much-loved vintage tractor. Seeing the children’s faces light up when Tux arrives has become one of the highlights of our Graduation celebrations, and we are so grateful for Jem’s continued kindness in bringing him along.

Today at Impington our Elderflowers celebrated with their own Graduation ceremony, surrounded by proud parents and carers. The children also had a lot of fun with the country fayre theme. We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Phil from Chivers for so generously bringing along the wonderful tractors and a special vintage car! They created such a fantastic experience for the children and helped make these celebrations even more memorable.

These were both truly special occasions, filled with smiles, laughter and, for many of us, a good few tears as we reflected on just how far the children have come.

To all of our school leavers, thank you for allowing us to be part of your early years journey. Watching you grow, learn, build friendships and develop into the incredible young people you are today has been an absolute privilege. Although we will miss all your smiling faces, we couldn’t be prouder of everything you have achieved and know you will embrace your next chapter with confidence and enthusiasm.

We wish every one of our Graduates the very best of luck as they begin school - we know you’ll all shine brightly. 💚✨ #2026

💙 Happy Father’s Day! 💙

Today we celebrate all the wonderful Dads, Stepdads, Grandads, carers and father figures who play such an important role in our children’s lives.

Over the past week, the children have been busy creating special Father’s Day gifts and cards, putting lots of thought, creativity and love into every one. It has been lovely hearing them talk about the special people they are celebrating today and the fun things they enjoy doing together.

We hope you all enjoy your gifts and have a fantastic day making special memories with your families.

🌱🍎 UK Healthy Eating Week 2026 🍎🌱

This week we have been celebrating UK Healthy Eating Week, organised by the British Nutrition Foundation, with the theme ‘Find Your Healthier You’ 💚✨

Our children have been learning all about healthy lifestyles through a variety of fun and engaging activities 🎨🥕🍓. They have enjoyed exploring different fruits and vegetables 🍎🍌🥦, taking part in food-themed creative activities ✂️🎨, discussing healthy food choices 🥗🍇, and learning where our food comes from 🌱🚜.

One of the highlights has been visiting our Allotments 🌿🌻, where the children have been able to harvest and taste some of the delicious produce they have helped to grow 👩‍🌾👨‍🌾🍅🥕. From freshly picked fruits and vegetables 🍓🥬 to herbs and edible plants 🌿, the children have loved experiencing the journey from garden to plate 🌱➡️🍽️ and developing a real appreciation for healthy, nutritious foods 💚😊.

By encouraging healthy eating habits from an early age 👶🍎, we are helping our children build positive relationships with food 🤝🍽️ and make choices that support their wellbeing now and in the future 🌟💪.

🚶‍♀️🌿 During May we have loved marking ‘National Walking Month’ where we’ve been making the most of taking every step together! 🌞👣

Our children have loved heading outdoors for lots of exciting walking adventures. From magical storytelling walks and nature scavenger hunts to exploring the world around us with friends, every journey has been filled with curiosity, laughter and discovery! 🍃📚🔎

Whether we were searching for hidden treasures in nature, spotting signs of spring or simply enjoying chatting and exploring together, walking is such a wonderful way to stay active, build confidence and enjoy the fresh air. 💚

National Walking Month is a great reminder that even the smallest adventures are meaningful and create wonderful memories, all while staying fit and active and taking in the environment around us🚶🏻‍➡️🚶‍♀️‍➡️😊✨
