Hi to all our lovely parents and carers. I’m sorry if my recent departure has caused any concern and thank those of you who have reached out to check on me.
I had asked for the following to be sent out on the 30th April but understand this may have been delayed.
Hopefully it will explain my recent actions a little more clearly.
As always

Subject: A Message from Me
Dear Families,
I am writing to share some personal news.
After 26 years at Brookhurst Primary School, I have made the very difficult decision to step down from my role as Headteacher at the end of August 2025. This decision has not been made lightly, but after much reflection and consideration about the best way forward.
Over the past few months, I have been working with the Governing Body to explore ways to phase my retirement to ensure a smooth and supportive transition for the children, staff, and wider community. Unfortunately, it has not been possible to reach an agreement that would have allowed me to continue in a reduced capacity before my eventual retirement.
As a result, and given the requirement for headteachers to submit their notice by 30th April to leave at the end of the academic year, I have now formally tendered my resignation.
I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to all the families, pupils, and staff I have had the privilege to work alongside over my time at Brookhurst. It has been the greatest honour to lead such a vibrant, caring, and ambitious school community, and I will always hold Brookhurst close to my heart.
I will continue to work with the school leadership team to support a smooth transition over the coming months, wherever possible.
Thank you all for your trust, your partnership, and your continued support for our wonderful school.
With warmest wishes,
Angela Stanton
