Havant Academy is celebrating another year of progress as Year 11 students received their GCSE results today, continuing the academy’s sustained improvement over the past three years.
Students and staff have worked exceptionally hard, with this year’s results showing further improvements across a range of key measures. Outcomes in both English and mathematics have strengthened, while the academy has also improved both its overall attainment and progress measures.
Particularly encouraging is the continued rise in the academy’s Attainment 8 score, which has improved in each of the last three years. These results build on the significant improvement achieved last summer and provide further evidence of the positive trajectory recognised during recent Ofsted monitoring visits. They reflect the academy’s continued focus on improving the quality of education, raising expectations and ensuring that every student has the opportunity to succeed.
There were also some outstanding individual achievements.
Ronnie Burch achieved strong passes across all nine of his GCSEs, including six grades at 7 or above.
Katie Newstead also achieved strong passes across all nine of her GCSEs, including five grades at 7 or above and the equivalent of a grade 9 in Hospitality and Catering.
Headteacher Vicki Dillon-Thiselton said:
“I am incredibly proud of our Year 11 students. These results represent years of hard work, determination and resilience, and it has been wonderful to see our students able to celebrate what they have achieved today.
“We are also really pleased to see the academy continuing to move forward. Our attainment has improved for three consecutive years, outcomes in English and maths are strengthening, and the gap between our disadvantaged students and their peers nationally is narrowing.
“This is a whole-school achievement. I would like to thank our staff for their relentless commitment to our students, our families for the support they have given throughout the year and, most importantly, our students themselves. We know there is still more to do, but we are ambitious for Havant Academy and these results give us real confidence as we begin the next stage of our improvement journey.”

The academy congratulates every Year 11 student receiving results today and wishes them every success as they move on to sixth form, college, apprenticeships and the next stage of their education and training.
