🍂 One sunny Autumn morning, nine children set off on a walk to their local church to deliver a very special basket… 🧺
The basket they had lovingly filled and collected was finally ready for the Harvest Festival at St James Church Clifton Rotherham, and what a warm and welcoming reception they received from the church family and Michael, who kindly sat with the children and told them the story of harvest. 🌾
Then, one by one, we took turns taking an item and placing it on the altar.

We are so proud of our community, and we hope that sharing our generosity will help those who may need it most.
🌿 A heartfelt thank you to all our wonderful parents and staff members who donated to the collection.

All of the items will now be added to the final collection and delivered to Hopian early next week. 🤎
Thank you for helping us show our children the importance of kindness.

“It is so lovely to see inside and see how confident my Grandson is at nursery. Thank you so much.” 💬

In celebration of Grandparents’ Day, we welcomed the children's Grandparents to Athersley Nursery this week. It was a truly wonderful opportunity for our children to connect with their loved ones and take part in seasonal activities together. 🍂

It was a special chance for families to spend quality time together, make important memories, and see how we spend our days at nursery with our friends.

💡 Our Stay and Play sessions run seasonally throughout the year, and we always receive such positive feedback from our families. These sessions provide a valuable opportunity for families to come together, strengthen relationships, and build important bonds with our nursery teams.

We loved welcoming everyone into Athersley Nursery and sharing a little part of our nursery life with our families. 🌿 A sincere thank you to all the Grandparents' who gave their time to come along.

Outdoor play is such an important part of our learning and our mud kitchens are an essential part of our outdoor learning all year round. 🍂

📍At our Herringthorpe Nursery, the children have been getting creative with autumn’s natural treasures, using leaves, sticks, conkers and other seasonal materials to explore with.

🔍 The joy of discovery and imagination as we head into the colder months. 🍁

Today on World Smile Day, we recognise the importance of smiles and of course, a big part of a healthy smile is having clean, shiny teeth. 🦷
Here at The Curiosity Cottage Nursery, we enjoy making learning fun and practical. We talk to the children about the importance of keeping their teeth clean and encourage them to see tooth brushing as a positive part of their everyday routine.
Our big teeth are a learning aid that helps bringing learning to life. The children at Athersley Nursery carefully watched as they took turns to brush the teeth.
💡 We always aim to help children develop important healthy habits, that will go on to build solid foundations for life.
📌 Teethbrushing is carried out in nursery by every child.

Celebrating our amazing team! 👏
At The Curiosity Cottage Nursery, we strongly believe in recognising and celebrating the hard work, dedication and commitment of our incredible teams.

🗓️ This month, we were delighted to receive a special delivery of brand-new Curiosity Cottage mugs to recognise some of our fantastic team members at Herringthorpe for the work they have done that has truly gone above and beyond.

As a little thank-you, each recognised team member will receive a mug filled with goodies, as well as an additional 10-minute break each day for a whole week! ☕🍫
A huge well done and thank you to all of our recipients for the work you have put into your roles.

We will continue to celebrate Hug in a Mug monthly in our nurseries. ☕

Veg Garden Update… 🌱
This year has seen a vegetable garden established at our Athersley Nursery, and our children have truly embraced the opportunity to grow their own food and herbs! 🥕🌿

Although the colder weather is starting to draw in, our herb garden is still thriving, with fresh rosemary and mint growing in abundance. 🪴
It’s always wonderful to watch the children’s reactions when they first smell and touch the herbs. Their curiosity opens up conversations about new scents, flavours and textures, while helping them discover that many of the herbs and spices we use come from plants we can grow ourselves! 🌿

💡 With the help of Julie, our resident gardener and practitioner, alongside all of the team, we hope to take our garden in an even bigger direction next year and inspire even more children with the gift of growing their own.

🍂 Our children at Herringthorpe Nursery have been busy creating a special basket for the upcoming Harvest Festival at St James Church Clifton Rotherham ⛪️

We started by filling our basket with hay before carefully making a tag to tell everyone a little about the Festival. 🏡 The children then helped to fill the basket with dry tins and food packets donated from our nursery, with everyone playing their part carefully assembling and packing the basket carefully. 🧺🌾

It was a opportunity to show the children how a small gesture of kindness can go a long way and make a difference to someone who may need it. 🍁

📢 We will continue to collect donations up until 7th October, they can be dropped off at our nursery on 📍292 Badsley Moor Lane, Herringthorpe, Rotherham, S65 2QW

All donations are in aid of Hopian 🤎
