Day 4
Some of us had a late night last night, so there were a few tired faces this morning! We were absolutely shattered, but the excitement of the 4–2 win made it all worthwhile.
Today, one group visited Pannett Park and Museum, exploring the exhibits and enjoying some time in the park, while the other groups headed to the beach for an action-packed session of surfing and bodyboarding.
Later, we all came together for some fun rock pooling on the beach before visiting Captain Cook’s Museum, where we learned all about the famous explorer and his remarkable voyages.
To top off a fantastic day, we enjoyed a sneaky ice lolly treat and are now looking forward to a delicious three-course meal, followed by tonight’s talent show. We can’t wait to see what performances are in store!
Another brilliant day full of adventure, learning and plenty of happy memories! 😊🌊🏄♂️🍦⭐

Day 3 – Whitby Residential Update
After breakfast this morning, Year 5 Group A enjoyed their final few hours in the gift shops and arcades before meeting up with Group B for lunch. Year 5 Group B headed out on a boat trip before visiting the fascinating Dracula Museum. The children loved learning more about Whitby’s famous connection to Bram Stoker’s legendary character and thoroughly enjoyed their day.
Miss Jenkinson and the Year 6 team set off promptly at 9:30am for their scenic coastal walk from Whitby to Robin Hood’s Bay. The children were absolutely fantastic, completing an impressive 8.1-mile hike, with a total of around 12 miles walked throughout the day. Their determination, resilience and positive attitudes were outstanding, and they should be incredibly proud of themselves.
Following the walk, Year 6 celebrated Mass at the retreat centre before enjoying lunch together. After all that exercise, they were treated to a well-earned ice cream before spending the afternoon rock pooling and exploring the coastline.
After returning by bus, everyone is now looking forward to another delicious three-course evening meal.
As a reward for another fantastic day, Miss Jenkinson has agreed to let the children stay up to watch the England match—provided they’re not too tired after all today’s adventures!
Another day full of friendship, laughter, achievement and memories that will last a lifetime. The children continue to be a real credit to St Gerard’s, and we are all incredibly proud of them.
⚽🏴 Come on England… it’s coming home! 🏴⚽

Day 2 Update
Our Year 5 pupils and half of Year 6 started the day by heading out to the waves for a fantastic surfing session, while the other Year 6 group enjoyed a visit to the fascinating Pannett Park museum and park.
We then all came together for lunch on the beach, making the most of the beautiful coastal setting.
In the afternoon, we visited the fascinating National Lobster Hatchery, where we learned about lobster conservation and the important work being done to protect marine life. We then continued on to the RNLI Whitby Museum, discovering more about the area’s rich maritime history and the brave work of the lifeboat crews.
This evening, we’re looking forward to a delicious three-course meal, followed by sports on the field and a disco to round off another action-packed day.
An epic Day 2 full of fun, learning and unforgettable memories! 🌊🏄♂️🦞⚓🕺💃
