Gillian Banks Theatre School The business began over 25 years ago by hiring a church hall and holding classes for 6 children from Maltby, Rotherham.
At that time Maltby was a thriving mining village with a majority of working class people, principally employed at the pit, with no inclinations towards performing arts. This isn’t a traditional classroom-based course. Students combine qualification work with specialist practical training to develop as confident, versatile circus performers.

GB Circus School is recruiting for our full-time Level 2 Extended Diploma in Circus & Aerial Arts, commencing November 2026 and completing in July 2027.
Designed for students aged 14+, this specialist programme combines practical circus and aerial training with a Level 2 Extended Diploma worth the equivalent of 3 GCSEs.
⭐ Full-Time Programme
⭐ 10 hours of specialist training per week
⭐ £75 per week

Our NEW Part-Time Level 2 Extended Diploma in Performing Arts – Circus & Aerial Pathway has been specifically designed for students who want to access specialist circus and aerial training alongside their usual education.

📚 EQUIVALENT TO 3 GCSEs
📅 COMPLETED PART-TIME OVER 2 YEARS
⏰ Approximately 5 hours per week – after school

STILL AT SCHOOL?
Perfect! Students can complete the 2-year part-time course alongside their school GCSEs, giving them the opportunity to gain the equivalent of 3 additional GCSEs while continuing their normal school education.

You can join us too! The course can also be completed as a standalone qualification, making it ideal for older students who want to develop their circus, aerial and performing arts training without enrolling on a full-time course.

Trained at Fool Time Circus School—now Circomedia—and the Desmond Jones School of Mime, Tim has extensive experience teaching juggling, balancing and performance skills.
