This week, our Rising Twos went on an exciting Gruffalo hunt in the Baby Garden! 🐭🦊🐍 We hid the Gruffalo characters around the garden, and the children had lots of fun walking, climbing and running as they explored the different areas to find them. They climbed up the climbing frame, where they found Mouse and Fox, searched in the bushes and mud kitchen to discover the Gruffalo, and explored the kitchen area where they found Snake! The children enjoyed making the matching animal sounds as they found each character, while also developing their gross motor skills through all their exploring and movement. Well done everyone! 😊🍂

This morning in the Baby Room, we had lots of fun exploring water and sea animals! 💦

The babies enjoyed splashing water while discovering different sea creatures. We explored the animals through sensory play, using our hands to feel, move and investigate them, while talking about the different creatures we could see. 🐟🐙🦀

This week, our preschool children have been learning about the number zero, our Number of the Week.

They learned the rhyme, “Make a loop just like so, that’s how you make a zero.”

They then extended their learning by sticking stickers around a loop to form the number zero. They also practised number recognition by brushing away the number zero using paintbrushes with a comfortable grip.

These fun activities help children develop early numeracy, early writing skills, fine motor skills, and hand-eye coordination.

🏖️🐚 Baby Room Beach Week! 🌊☀️

Our little beach explorers had a splashing time this week! 🥰🏖️

We created our very own seaside sensory tray, complete with soft sand, blue silky “sea,” shells, sea creatures and a bucket and spade. 🐚🦀🐠🪣

Our babies loved getting stuck in! They scooped, filled, emptied and poured the sand, developing their fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination along the way. They also enjoyed discovering all the different textures — from the grainy sand and bumpy shells to the silky sea! 👋✨

Of course, no trip to the seaside would be complete without some singing! 🎶🌊 We enjoyed “I Had a Tiny Turtle” and “A Sailor Went to Sea”, with lots of little hands copying the actions and plenty of smiles along the way! 🐢⚓️💙

🦖🦕 Dinosaur Week! 👣💚

As part of Dinosaur Week, our Rising Twos had a roarsome time making dinosaur footprints in playdough! 🦖

The children chose their favourite dinosaurs and watched excitedly as they stomped, stomped, stomped through the playdough, leaving their footprints behind. 👣 They used words and sounds such as “Stomp, stomp!”, “Rawr!” and “Dinosaur!” while playing alongside their friends and taking turns. 🥰

As part of our Princess and Pirate Week, our little princes and princesses got creative with magical potions and sparkly playdough! 🧪🌸👑

The children explored flowers, sparkling water, pipettes, tweezers and magnifying glasses to create their very own princess potions. 🌺✨ They then used pink glitter playdough to make princess cakes, pizzas and magical creations! 🎂💖

There was lots of imaginary play, creativity, sharing, chatting and exploring as the children brought their ideas to life. 🥰

🚀✨ Space-Themed Water Play in Toddlers! 🌟💧

Today, our toddlers enjoyed a fun space-themed water play activity, exploring glitter, foil stars and water using scoops and containers. They poured, counted, scooped and investigated different textures while using their imaginations! 🌌

The children also practised early maths by counting stars and comparing who had more and fewer, helping to build confidence with numbers through play.

🫧🦁 Sensory Fun in Babies! 💙💚

Today, our babies explored a colourful sensory tuff tray with bubbly foam, discovering land and water animals through touch, play and exploration. They enjoyed squishing the foam, moving the animals around and learning where different animals live! 🌍🐢

This activity encouraged curiosity, early language, sensory exploration and fine motor development while supporting children to play alongside their friends.

💛🌈 Exploring Emotions in Rising Twos! 🧸

Today, we explored feelings through colourful emotion teddies, sensory play, music and dancing! The children learned about being happy, sad, angry and loved, matched emotions to facial expressions, and discovered where their hearts are by listening to their own “bu bum, bu bum!” ❤️

These activities help children begin to recognise and talk about emotions while building confidence, communication and self-awareness.
