This week in Preschool we have been exploring bubbles. Children used bubble wands and even used bubbles in the indoor and outdoor water trays.

A wonderful sensory activity and lots of learning opportunities! What will we do next? Maybe create our own bubble wands! Who knows? Let’s get creative ⭐️🤔💭

🔧 DIY Workshop

Our preschool children enjoyed exploring nuts, bolts, screwdrivers and logs to create their own imaginative designs. They made robots and people, using the bolts as facial features and talking about their creations.

🎯 Intent: To develop fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, problem-solving and creativity through hands-on exploration.

🛠️ Implementation: Children used screwdrivers to secure the bolts into the logs and then used their fingers to twist the nuts onto the back. They experimented with different materials and designs.

🌟 Impact: Children developed hand strength, coordination, concentration and perseverance while confidently expressing their imagination and ideas.

Smiles,Swings & Sunshine ☀️

Toddler 2 took advantage of the glorious sunshine this week. We took an early morning walk to the local park. On the way back to nursery we stopped off at the charity shop for some new books for our carpet time sessions.

A morning filled with play, sun and happiness ☺️

Light and Shadows 🔦

This week our wonderful preschool children have been experimenting with torches. Looking at how we can create shadows and how colours reflect when using different objects.

This was a fantastic activity that created never ending learning. It created lots of amazing conversations and critical thinking. 🤔

July’s Employee of the Month goes to...…Grace Brown 🎉

Grace was nominated by her team members for helping her Room Leader when coming back from maternity leave. Updating her on changes and new routines. Grace was also praised for how lovely and caring she is towards the children and for trying new things that are a little out of her comfort zone. Marvellous Mud Play 🍕

Children have been super busy and messy creating mud pizzas in the garden. A brilliant activity set up by Room Leader Nicole for the children to role play and get creative!

Using mud as a base onto of recycled materials. Adding “toppings” the the pizza and cooking them in the oven. Mmmmmmm lovely! 🥰

A perfect activity to create open ended conversations and open those wild imaginations ☺️

Bike Ramps 🚲

In the garden our children wanted to create something for their bikes. As a team they worked together and came up with the idea to attatch different lengths of guttering together.

They then used their risky play skills to balance and ride along the ramps. A fantastic child initiated activity with a little help from the adults to help it stay together. Well done everyone!

DIY Bug hotel 🐞🕷️

This week our Toddler 2 and Preschool children got the opportunity to create their very own bug hotel.
Children worked together to get creative and discuss the tiny creatures that may come to visit. Using recycled materials and natural resource we created something wonderful 😍

A beautiful activity created by Toddler 2 staff member Ellie! Well done everyone you did a fantastic job.

Zoo Lab 🐍🐌

Last week we had ZooLab come to nursery for a fun and educational animal experience! The children had the opportunity to meet a cockroach, African snail, tarantula, snake and a frog, while learning about their habitats, diets, and how to care for them.

This hands-on visit encourages curiosity, builds confidence, and supports learning about the natural world in an engaging and memorable way.
