Introducing the WPT Prom Bank for Year 6 and Year 11! πŸ‘—πŸ‘ž

Prom is a special milestone for our students, but the cost of prom wear and accessories can be a challenge for some families.

That’s why Wickersley Partnership Trust is proud to launch the WPT Prom Bank - a new initiative designed to help future Year 6 and 11 students access and borrow prom attire, ensuring everyone has the opportunity to celebrate their big night with confidence.

As this year’s prom season is underway, students and families are invited to consider donating:

πŸ”· Dresses
πŸ”· Suits
πŸ”· Shoes
πŸ”· Bags
πŸ”· Jewellery
πŸ”· Ties
πŸ”· And other suitable items

All sizes of adult formalwear and children's formalwear from 9 - 12 years are welcomed.

These donations will help build a sustainable collection that can support students for years to come.

Donations can be dropped off at school reception on any school day or during the following drop-off events:

πŸ“ Cutler's Hall, Sheffield

πŸ‘― On Monday, nine pupils proudly represented the school at the Reach Movement Festival, organised by Rotherham School Games and held at the Rotherham Civic Theatre. Over several weeks, the children worked hard to create and rehearse a dance inspired by Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. Their performance brought the story to life through creative choreography, teamwork, and expressive movement.

The pupils performed brilliantly on the day, showing confidence and enthusiasm throughout. Mrs Levesley was incredibly proud of how they represented Thrybergh Primary School and the effort they put into preparing for the festival. A huge well done to everyone involved!

Learning in EYFS: Why play matters πŸͺ€

In our Foundation Stage, we see play as one of the most powerful tools for learning. It is how children make sense of the world, develop confidence and build the foundations for future success.

Through play, children develop:

🧠 Thinking and problem-solving skills
πŸ–οΈ Coordination
πŸ—£οΈ Language skills
βž— Early maths understanding
🀝 Social skills

Our classroom and outdoor spaces are filled with opportunities to investigate, create and imagine. Every experience is carefully designed by practitioners to spark curiosity while supporting key areas of development.

Come and see our provision for yourself on Monday 15th June (3.30pm - 4pm). Contact our school office to arrange a visit:

πŸ“£ Y4/5 have been developing both their reading and writing skills through a range of engaging English activities. While reading Krindlekrax, the children practised using expression when reading aloud, taking on the roles of different characters and performing extracts from the story. They worked hard to vary their tone, volume, and pace to bring the characters to life and convey their emotions, helping to build confidence, fluency, and understanding of the text.

Alongside this, the children have begun an exciting new writing unit on non-chronological reports. They have explored a range of examples, analysing their structure and identifying key features such as headings, subheadings, factual language, and organised paragraphs. This has helped them develop a strong understanding of how information can be presented effectively and will support them as they work towards creating their own high-quality reports. Well done, Year 4/5!

✨ Year 4/5 thoroughly enjoyed a virtual author visit with Struan Murray, author of Dragonborn. The children were fascinated to learn about his journey to becoming an author and how his love of drawing and storytelling as a child helped shape his career. They enjoyed hearing where he gets his ideas from and had the opportunity to ask thoughtful questions about the writing process.

The visit was a fantastic experience that inspired creativity and encouraged the children to develop their own love of reading and writing. Well done to everyone for their excellent participation and enthusiasm!

🚨 IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTICE 🚨

With the recent hot weather, we know how tempting it can be to cool off in local reservoirs, lakes and rivers.

We urge all students and families to remember the dangers of water.

The water may look safe and calm on the surface, but you can never know the conditions underneath.

Cold water shock, sudden drop-offs, and hidden currents are deadly. Even strong swimmers can encounter difficulties.

Please stay out of the water. Do not take the risk.
