Rotherhams Learner of the Year
When Kingsley joined us at Morthyng, he was very shy and quiet and wouldn’t really speak to anyone.
Kingsley has spent 2 academic years with us and has grown so much in confidence with both staff and peers and made some good friendships within his groups, he has lovely mannerisms and always has a broad smile on his face. He has gone above and beyond in all of his lessons and given 100% every time he has attended.
Kingsley has achieved consistently high attendance and met every target that has been set for him, he has shown amazing dedication to his education over the last 2 years and has achieved his entry 3 functional skills in English and math along with his entry 3 certificate in Vocational Studies.

Chris said, “This is the 26th year of Grade 2 Good since inspections began in 1998, initially by the “Training Standards Council” and then the “Adult Learning Inspectorate” and from 2010 by Ofsted”.
Supported by the National “Association of Education & Learning Providers” Morthyng are the only Independent Learning Provider to have sustained 26 years consistently at Grade 2 - GOOD.
The report finds Morthyng to be a provider that understands and supports its learners and the learners feel safe, valued and supported constantly. The teaching and sequencing is good, supported by a vibrant and well established and committed Management and Governance board.
Morthyng operates in Rotherham, Birkenhead, Warrington, Corby and Rugby, delivering to 16 to 19 year olds in Maths & English and Vocational Skills. Lily despite discussing in her interview her barriers, struggles and dislike of maths which led to her avoiding from these lessons in school, Lily is now reporting that she enjoys her maths sessions for the first time in her educational journey. She shared that she understands what she is learning and sees how it can be used in day to day life. Lily feels that she has a good relationship with her tutor and this has made her feel comfortable asking questions if unsure which has helped her overcome the difficulty. Lily has not previously experienced this with maths before starting at MVC-Corby.

Good News Story - Kenzie has Independently secured a work trial that resulted in a placement to support himself to build key employability skills including enhancing his social skills. Feedback from the placement manager was that Kenzie had shown great motivation, getting stuck in and giving all tasks a go with no complaints. They were that impressed Kenzie was offered part time paid employment in the role of a housekeeper at the hotel. (He has declined this as Mum says he does to feel ready but that fact it was offered speaks volumes for his success in the placement.)
