WPT Prom Bank - Suit Donations Needed 👔

Got any formal wear or suits tucked in your wardrobe that no longer get worn?

Donate your pre-loved suits to the WPT Prom Bank and help us remove barriers to access, ensuring every student has equal opportunity to attend Prom.

We are looking for clean, good-quality donations in all sizes:

☕ A huge thank you to everyone who baked, donated and came along to support our Macmillan Coffee Afternoon at Brinsworth Whitehill! It was wonderful to see so many families and members of our school community getting involved, enjoying some delicious treats and helping us raise money for such an important cause.

We are thrilled to announce that, thanks to everyone’s incredible generosity, we raised an amazing £519 for Macmillan Cancer Support! Thank you once again to everyone who helped make the afternoon such a success. Your support really does make a difference.

🎨 This week in Art, KS1 developed their painting techniques by mixing powder paint to create the correct colour and consistency. Pupils practised using thick, thin, straight and curved lines, before exploring tone and tint by adding black and white.

📣 This week, Brinsworth Whitehill celebrated European Day of Languages! Pupils took part in a range of fun activities to learn more about the different countries, languages and cultures across Europe. They enjoyed colouring flags from European countries, completing worksheets and exploring maps to locate different countries and discover more about the continent.

It was a great opportunity for pupils to develop their geographical knowledge while learning about the variety of languages and cultures across Europe. Everyone enjoyed getting involved and sharing what they already knew. Great work, everyone!

🌳 To kick-start their new Literacy story, ‘Into the Forest’ by Anthony Browne, Year 2 headed outside to explore our very own school forest. The children used their senses to explore what they could hear, see, smell and touch, while discussing how the forest made them feel. They then generated a range of adjectives and nouns to describe their experience.

The children absolutely loved the experience and are excited to continue exploring the forest through their new story. Well done, Year 2!

📣 This week, KS1 have begun exploring their new story, ‘The Bog Baby’ by Jeanne Willis. They started by looking at the features of non-fiction texts, discussing how information books are organised and how they help pupils find facts. They then put their detective skills to work, making predictions about their new book based on the clues they spotted.

Today, something very exciting happened – pupils discovered a habitat in their classroom! They explored what it could be, what might live there and why it would make a good home. They then used their five senses to describe the setting, thinking carefully about what they could see, hear, smell, touch and feel. It has been a fantastic start to their new story, and everyone is excited to find out what happens next!

🎨 Last week, Holly Class stepped back in time to become prehistoric artists! To explore parietal (cave) art, the children used natural materials, just as early humans did. They experimented with rich soils, crushed berries and charcoal to create their own ancient masterpieces.

It was a fantastic way to explore how early humans created art using the materials around them. Well done, Holly Class!

📣 Last Friday, Brinsworth Whitehill pupils loved dressing in red to celebrate Rotherham Day! The children have taken part in a range of activities celebrating our local town, including creating posters, exploring maps of Rotherham and taking part in a fun run around the playground.

It was been a brilliant day of celebrating our community and showing pride in Rotherham. Well done, everyone!
