Pre-School places

We know that due to unforeseen circumstances at a local nursery, parents are urgently looking for places for their pre school aged children. We do have some spaces at Rotherfield Pre- School, please fill out the enquiry page on the website and Katie will be in touch in the coming days.

We would love to show you round our beautiful setting and to see if we can support your child care needs

Rotherfield Village Pre-School is an Outstanding rated OFSTED registered preschool located in East Sussex. We are open 8:30am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.

Just a reminder that Wednesday 2nd and Thursday 3rd are INSET days for staff training.

Pre-school children and those in year 1 to 6 return on Friday 4th. Our new reception children start from Monday 7th - see your introductory letter for details.

Wealden District Council have released information about a Back to School grant that some of our families will be able to access. It opens today and runs for three weeks on a first come first serve basis.

Getting children ready for a new school year can be expensive. That's why we're offering £50 per eligible child through the Wealden Back to School Support Fund.

Applications are open for a three-week period from today 18 August 2026 until midnight on 8 September 2026.

Today we celebrated Mrs Modjesch as she heads off into retirement. Mrs Modjesch has spent a large part of her career teaching PE across the school and inspiring countless pupils to enjoy sport. We collated a video of former pupils sharing their memories and ended with a very special message from The Body Coach .
Thank you Steph for all your years of dedication, hard work and fun. Your legacy lives on in the children you have inspired.

Today we get to celebrate our year 6 pupils as we look back on all they have achieved over the last 7 years and look forward to all they will go on to experience at their new schools.

We are absolutely thrilled to announce that Rotherfield Primary School has been awarded the prestigious Platinum School Games Mark – the highest level of recognition available through the national School Games programme! 🎉

This award celebrates our long-term commitment to high-quality PE, inclusive sport and helping every child develop a love of physical activity.

Highlights that helped us achieve Platinum include:

✅ Four consecutive years of Gold School Games Mark status
✅ Inclusive sporting opportunities for all pupils
✅ A hugely successful Cross Country Club
✅ Record participation in sporting events
✅ Five pupils qualifying for the Sussex School Final – our highest number in 16 years!
✅ Year 5 and 6 boys football team making the final of the Sussex Team cup - for the second year in a row
✅ Wide range of sporting after school clubs for all ages and abilities
✅ Strong partnerships with local schools and the Beacon Cluster

EDIT: EVEN IF THE MATCH IS MOVED TO 7pm WE WILL STILL SHOW THE HIGHLIGHTS

We know that some of our budding football stars may want to stay up for the England v Mexico World Cup match, but with a 1:00am kick-off, we suspect that wouldn't make for the most productive day of learning on Monday!

So, instead, we're bringing the World Cup to school!
Any children who would like to watch the match are invited to join us at 7:55am on Monday 6th July, when we'll be showing highlights of the game before the school day begins. Our hope is that everyone can enjoy the excitement of the match after a good night's sleep.
