For the past two weeks we have been celebrating and learning about Chinese New Year with the children.

We learnt about how the years were named after the animals and acted out the story with our story sack. We have made Chinese lanterns and they even tried writing letters from the Chinese alphabet. For our snack we encouraged them to try some Chinese food: noodles and prawn crackers.

The children have also enjoyed our Chinese themed role play area and trying on traditional Chinese clothes.

Our focus last week was on Remembrance Day. The children created some lovely Poppy artwork.
They used paint on different materials to make these. We encouraged them to do free painting of poppies at our easels, group tissue paper poppies and they made Poppy shaped biscuits.

Our Little Peas have been busy making Poppies from their handprints and using tissue paper and glue.

On Friday the children all took part in the 2 minute silence at 11am. We were so proud of them all as they stayed quiet for the whole duration, even our very youngest ones.

Last week our theme was bonfire night/fireworks. 🎆

The children in both rooms have made firework pictures using cardboard tubes and paint. The older children made tissue paper bonfires and glittery sparklers.

We talked about the importance of firework safety and watched a short video of a firework display and asked what sounds and colours the children could see and hear.

Our focus last week was on Remembrance Day. The children created some lovely Poppy artwork.
They used paint on different materials to make these. We encouraged them to do free painting of poppies at our easels, a group tissue paper poppy field and they painted the ends of plastic bottles to create a 3D poppy display.
