Rothbury Kindergarten

Rothbury Kindergarten Rothbury Kindergarten provides outstanding care and early education for children aged 0-5 years.

We aim to provide children with freedom, happiness, guidance, discipline and kindness in a consistent, secure environment. We recognise the emotional needs of children, which include attention, affection, safeguarding, as well as a sense of belonging and personal growth. They need encouragement to learn from experience, the opportunity to explore, investigate and experiment and be given appropriat

e activities that encourage children to reach their full potential. All children learn through play – the principal means of learning in early childhood. Through play, children gradually develop concepts and ideas, learn to discriminate, make judgement and use their imagination.

Last week we had another special guest come to nursery… a Cragside ranger!

Our Cragside ranger Joseph was very kind and brought in lots of flowers for the children to look at, explore and take a closer look with magnifying glasses! 🔎
The children loved using the magnifying glass to see the patterns on the flowers and learn how the magnifying glasses work! Joseph then talked to the children about when it is the right time for flowers to grow! 💐

The children also had a leaf each, and looked at the leaf chart, comparing the leaves size, shape and pattern to match their leaf up to the ones on the chart 🍂

We also had way markers to look at whilst Joseph explained how the different colours show different paths to follow! ➡️

Thank you very much for coming to visit and talk to the children about your important job! ☺️

Today we had two very special visitors come to nursery and teach us all about fire engines and their jobs as fire fighters! 🚒

The children had so much fun learning about different parts of the fire engine and had so much fun spraying water with the hose! They used their muscles to pull back the handle and spray the fence with water. 💦

They then had so much fun dressing up as real fire fighters. They thought it was so funny trying on clothes that were too big! But they loved learning how each part of the uniform kept fire fighters safe and how important it was to wear it! 🔥

Next we had a sit inside the engine and this was so cool! The children loved sitting very high up and looking around down below them! They loved looking at the tools inside the engine such as torches to help the fire fighters see in the dark 🔦

The firefighters then played the siren and the children were so excited to hear the siren and watch the blue flashing lights, learning when we hear and see this, it means there is an emergency! 🚨

Thank you to both our special guest for bringing such a fun morning to the children and teaching us all about it. Thank you for helping to keep people safe! ❤️
