Is the 31 December inclusion strategy deadline on your radar? 📅

Every school in England needs to publish a statement showing how it's reducing barriers to learning, including budgeted costs.

This Saturday is World Mental Health Day 💚

Wellbeing doesn't have to be a separate lesson. Our Mental Health Day activity sheet fits right into your Maths, so you can mark it in school on Friday.

It's built around the 5 Ways to Wellbeing (Connect, Be Active, Take Notice, Keep Learning and Give), and every activity has a times tables or number twist:

🔴🟠🟢 How do I feel? Children stand by a red, orange or green cone to show how they're feeling, then check in again after the activity. Did anything change?

🔢 Number Hunt: Find numbers around school with a partner, then multiply them against a times table.

🧘 Wait a Minute: Eyes closed, can you feel your heartbeat? How close can you get to counting 60 seconds?

Plus a Maths Trail and a partner challenge, all with no kit needed beyond a few cones.

Pupil voice at Duckmanton Primary told them something honest: children preferred maths to English. 👀

The reason was simple. Maths felt like games and practical activities, while teachers found their SPAG lessons stale and repetitive.

After three years of Teach Active Maths, the school added Active English. What they saw:
✅ A 98% pass rate in their SPAG test, with active sessions used for Year 6 revision
✅ Growing confidence in English as a whole
✅ More independence in lessons, especially for lower-attaining children who could confidently access active sessions

As Joel Beeden, their PE Coordinator, SENCO and Year 6 teacher, puts it: "Lessons are engaging, active and diverse…students love them!"
